I want to increase the middle hole slightly. There was a joystick there and I'll be putting a button there instead.

Looked into the step drill bit and I'm not sure if it will work on a metal/wood cp. I think it will work only on thin material. If I use a template and draw a perfect circle on top, I don't think there will be a problem.

Any other ideas?

A Dremmel should work. Any slight imperfections will be hidden by the button lip. Oh, and a step drill bit would work great on that situation.

I agree, the step drill bit will work great. I wouldn't go to the expense of buying one just for this one task though. Unless you want the edges to be perfectly smooth?

The step drill is good for material up to 1/8" thickness. Anything thicker than that and you end up with a tapered hole.
If its 1/4" thick or less you can do half on one side and then drill the other half from the other side.

thanks guys. i'll go the dremmel route and take my time. if i were to buy the step drill bit, this would be the only time i would use it. kind of a waste.
