I bought this thing supposedly needing just a peter chou power supply, and got NOTHING.. absolutely NOTHING after replacing it. I'm pretty ok with computers, so i manually triggered the power on the motherboard. from there, I set it to auto-boot on A/C power on. looking better, I get repsonse and I get an ESC / F9 / DEL option. can't tell what each one do, but i know DEL takes me to the bios setup. I let it go and do nothing. and that's as far as it goes. I get ntohing. the HDD MAY be the original one, may not. may have nothing on it, NO CLUE. I'm headed back out to adjust the jumper on it see if I get response. If that doesn't work, does anyone have a copy of the HDD for In the groove 2 they could upload? I have an FTP site available. Thnx -Ken

Sounds like the hard drive is incorrectly installed or configured. I bet if you leave it for a few minutes it'll come up with some sort of error message. If not, unplug all drives and see what happens.

i unhooked the monitor, and plugged in an LCD computer monitor. I got a "Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS Unable to mount root fs on unknown block 2,3" message.

there is an error in the boot kernel. I know NOTHING on how to fix linux and since it doesn't boot up to an OS, I can't manually do anything to it. If anyone has a hard drive that I can clone, I'll pay shipping, and ship it back. really just want this thing working so I can get rid of it. I don't want to part it out.

OK.... round 26 GO!

I loaded a Linux OS from CD and was able to venture into the HDD of my ITG2 system... still dunno what I'm doing. it has 4 partitions. they are: 33M 4GB, 110MB and 10GB

I can open all of the partitions EXCEPT the 4GB. anyone able to send me just that partition? would I be able to just copy the files and have a good copy? I really need this machine working. or if you have an HDD you can copy it on for me, and let me make a copy from it, I'm still willing to send shipping costs, and send it back. Plus I'd give ya $10 for your time although the computer actually does it. lol please let me know. I know it's a hard drive error. the board is fine. loaded linux with no problem at all. thanks -Ken

I couldn't find any /run command or command prompt on the linux system, and i tried checking it through windows(long shot since windows wont recognize linux drives), no luck as I suspected. still sitting here with my thumb in irritating places. lol maybe the version of linux i'm running? Ubuntu is the version I was running. if there's a way to get to a command prompt, or something. I'm willing to try whatever I have to. and once again, I appreciate the help.

Linux doesn't use use "/run" types of command systems. You have to launch the Terminal to manually type commands in.

Here's Ubuntu's instructions on using Terminal : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal/

Hope that helps.
Brian.

OK.... slight progress

I did the fdisk /dev/sda and then hit p
INFO on that partition:
/dev/sda2 (Flag) u (Blocks)48195 (ID)82 (System)Linux Swap

Next step?

I have a disk in my office for an In the Groove or Pump it Up but I dont recall. Its a copy I made from a master that worked but I also checked the copy after I made it. If its the same disk as the one you need I'll burn ya a copy.

I wont be back in Dallas until Wednesday (too busy having fun at CAX) :)

That would be AWESOME... I'll send you some money to cover postage and the drive. I'd like to be able to at least get the thing working to SOME degree. just let me know the paypal address and how much should cover it, and I'll send it asap. -Ken

I just done recall if the drive is for PiU or ITG. I'll let you know when I get back.

EDIT: email me at gamefixer at gmail dot com some time on Wednesday.

If it's a swap partition, don't worry about it. Linux uses that partition only if there isn't enough RAM. Nothing important in there, trust me.
