In order to move forward with Nintendo Offset T-molding ... I NEED ANSWERS!

I've received about 4-5 samples of offset t-molding... 2 of them are slightly curvy like standard e-molding but a little flatter, 1 of them looks like standard t-molding but trimmed down and the last one is TRULLY FLAT like the molding I already did but offset (oh, but it's only about 1-2" long so no good for the manufacture to produce from).

So, at this time I have the project on hold... I don't have a particle board cabinet to get any measurements from or a sample piece of molding... I do not have and usable samples (Unless it's suppose to be curvy but personally I'd like to see it FLAT like standard nintendo t-molding)...

Oh, and what about the control panel t-molding? Does this just use standard 15mm TRUE-FLAT molding?

What to do, what to do... Need some input and some answers.

Thanks.
Bill

It is obvious that Nintendo did manufacture games with t-molding that wasn't as flat as you'd like. Many of us have it, and speaking for my own game, I think there's no chance that what's on my cab is anything but the original t-molding (given the condition that it's in). I for one would be thrilled just to get offset t-molding, whether it's "TRUE FLAT", semi flat, or even normal. "TRUE FLAT" would be nice, but since semi flat is also original, why the insistence on holding out for "TRUE FLAT" at this point?

If someone steps forward in response to this thread with a usable amount of "TRUE FLAT", great. If not, I say just go with the semi flat.

The 1 blue DK particle board cabinet with offset that I restored...it wasn't flat. It was curved like regular t-molding. I left it alone, since I had no replacement.

I don't have a partical board cab or a stake (or a steak) in this but I just want to say that I think it's cool that you're figuring it out and making sure you get it right.

Do we know which types of cabs the samples came off of? It could be that the DKs and DK Jrs. used flat and the punchouts used rounded, or vice versa, or that the factory used whatever it had on hand, and that product changed.

I'm in the process of restoring two Dualsystem upright cabs so I would need at least 60'

I don't need it to be flat either, as the factory original is not, I just need Black offset. Are measurements or samples still needed? I assume this was for the super-flat type which does not pertain to me.

Anybody have had to go down this road before and have a solution or supplier?

The sample I sent is from a DKJR cab. It has been converted to DK3, so there is no T-molding on the cp to check out.

I am in need of off set t-moulding and have a particle board cab if I can help in any way let me know...I dont need it for the CP but for the cab.
Thanks for looking into this, I almost bought some t moulding and was going to try to trim it to fit, but we all know how that would have turned out...
PS Me being the hoarder that I am I saved the tmoulding when i took it off, let me know if I can help at all!

I have a very small sample of offset molding that is super flat and 4-5 samples of offset t-molding that is curvy like normal t-molding. It's come to my attention that we are pretty sure that Nintendo's offset cabinets mainly used "curvy" white molding.

This can be done fairly quickly but as of right now I have about 10 actual e-mails stating they actually want this. Which is odd because I keep being told by the same handful of people that this is something everyone wants.

Is your plan only for white, or for black? Is most of the demand white?

You and Phet both needed black but I'm pretty sure he sold or is selling the machine that he needed the black for. If we go forward with "curvy" offset molding in white if enough people want black or if someone wants to buy 500-1000 feet the tooling would already be done.

Nope, I sold one of the '2' machines I needed this for. I just pulled the molding off of the one I kept, and whattaya know, it was actually 3/4 inch t-molding that was poorly trimmed on one side. If you aren't planning on running the black, I'll just bondo and recut the slot down the center. I happen to have 5/8" black here, but it's center slot.

I thought the offset molding was 9/16"... Is this not the case? The white I have I was pretty sure it's 9/16 but will check again in the next day or two.

Bill,
come on over and get measurements and some t-molding samples from my playchoice.
I'll be around tomorrow night after 6:00 and part of the day Saturday.

For what it is worth, my dualsystems measured at 10/16" (5/8") offset. Will verify again.

From what I remember of the sample I sent you, it actually looked pretty flat when installed. Like the barbs on the T held it tight enough to flatten it. It was definitely rounded a bit on the parts that weren't tightly seated.

anyway, I need enough for 2 cabs, and I need the cp molding for the DK.

I'm still interested in some white offset for a Dk 3 & Vs cab - both missing the offset molding
