I have beaten pretty much any game I've come across over the years. Hell, I beat Battletoads and we all know how much of a bitch that game is. But one game I could never beat without using the cheat code is Abadox for the NES. I swear they didn't play test this game before they sent it out to market.

Night Trap for Sega Cd. It would take forever to learn all of the traps and get them in the right sequence to see the "good" ending. Even with a cheat book, I had one mistake and saw the other ending instead.

Yea that game was a bitch. Milon's Secret Castle for the NES was another game that was very hard to beat. I'll quote wikipedia:

Throughout the entire game the player is only given one life. When one life is lost, the game is over and the player must start over. However, if the player holds left on the control pad while pressing the Start button at the title screen, he or she can start where they left off. This command does not work before collecting the first crystal, and was only featured in the instruction booklet of the Famicom version.

Since it wasn't in the NES versions instructions so I'll call that a cheat. Beating the game without dieing is near impossible.

another fmv game I couldn't beat was Corpse Killer...one of the later bosses was impossible due to the limited special ammo and the need to quickly switch back and forth depending on what enemies were on screen

Amagon for NES...

...GameGenie or bust! Most don't make it past the first area, and there are no continues.

Some have managed to LP it on Youtube using save-states, so you can see how incredibly hard the game is.
Without codes or cheats the game is most difficult.

Beat that recently, didn't think it was very hard. Sucks when you die and lose your power ups though.

I could never beat the original Metal Gear or Jackal.

Beat both of those when I was a kid. I beat Jackal again recently, it's not too hard.

I rented that one night about 25? years ago and finished it, it was kinda tough, lots of exploring required.

Have Corpse Killer for the Saturn, beat it.

Amagon isn't hard at all, beat that game again about a year ago. It was alot easier then I remembered. You pretty much fly though the full game powerd up as amagon.

I use to beat pretty much every game I rented/played for NES back in the day. There was one game though I never could finish, and that is Athena from SNK. Believe I got to some kinda maze world and I would run out of time before I finished the level. Couple other games that are a challenge are Deadly Towers from Broderbund and Robowarrior from Jaleco. Legacy of the Wizzard also form Br0derbund is also a tough game.

Another game I couldn't beat was Double Dragon 3 for NES... I had no problems with 1 or 2, but three seemed to be different, like the enemies did more damage and had higher priority attacks.

Would you mind telling me your strategy for doing that? I still have the game, and am still trying to beat it.

As you know, your Megagon power is lost after the end of each stage, and sometimes I don't pick up another key for an entire level (whch is when I lose all my lives and hit Game Over. Is there some trick to getting enemies to drop Megagon keys?

I think saying "it isn't hard at all" is a bit of a stretch... ;)

Not saying anyone has done it on here, but I hate when people say they beat a game and how it wasn't hard at all and then tell you that they played it on an Emulator. Its not the same.

I loved Ninja Gaiden on the NES. Can't think of how many times I would play it over and over just because it was such a great game. Now Ninja Gaiden 3, that was a bitch.

So will you share your Amagon strategy per my post above jethrokiller, or do you prefer to let me suffer?
