Hey it's christmas and I recently went through the same thing. I got extras for this purpose and they were cheap.

Thread necro bump, I know.
I have a 4900 whose picture is a little too small (not wide enough) and I have the width coil maxed out so I'm ready to try a new width cap to make the picture a little bigger. I just need to get rid of the white bars on the sides; it doesn't need to be hugely bigger.
Can someone possibly provide a link for me for the right capacitor to plug in its place? Digikey, Mouser, I'll take anything.
As usual, I tried to find the right component at both sides and wasn't able to do so.
Thanks!
Capacitor C365 sets the width range. The factory installed value is .33 uf @ 200 volts polypropylene type. Changing the value will change the horizontal size of the picture. Generally the next value up or down is all it takes.
From Ken...
This didn't help you find it?
It helped me find the value but I go onto Mouser and it lists 400,000 different caps available for purchase.
I'll try again at lunchtime but i wasn't able to use it's purchase limiter to find what i want. I'm hopeless.![]()
Ugh. That's a lot of searching. Maybe Ken will chime in, he seems to have all the Mouser part numbers memorized!
I don't think I have ever actually bought a polypropylene cap.... I always just scavenge them off junk electronics before I throw them out. You'll find them in just about everything. Most are rated well above 200V.
I've done this mod to a 4900 before. Worked great. Remember, you can just tag another cap in parallel if you need to increase the value.
I think it was Digikey I was looking at last night and didn't see a selection for polypropolene. I really don't have much luck looking up individual components there so I get what I can from Bob because he knows.![]()
I just had a thread on this same thing with a K7000. I bought polypropylenes at both Mouser and West Florida Components.
This is what you need if you are looking for a .27ufd 250 volt pp cap. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail...EpiMZZMv1cc3ydrPrF%2bsu0%2bUU4qEgfqEZTyH1AYc=
