I'm Torn...

I'm torn. I picked up a Pole Position in the recent haul... non-working, of course. Just a cursory glance tells me the monitor works (white raster), boardset is getting power (at least one L.E.D. is on), but nothing. At all.

Now, I tried working with a Pole Position boardset once... it's not worth it.

It took me dropping my asking price to $75.00 to get someone out (finally) to pick up the last Pole Position...and that one WORKED (somewhat...there was graphical corruption in the roadway, sides, etc).

I hate to admit it guys... but I am thinking about parting this one out and, if no one wants it for FREE, dismantling the cab. I would offer it up FREE to anyone who wanted it for a few days of course...

Would doing such a thing generate negative arcade karma? Would it be worth it anyway? I need this thing gone and I know I won't be messing with it. I could actually use the monitor chassis to repair the Centipede I have waiting, so it would save a game on it's way out as well.

Opinions?

PP is a dime a dozen, and they're all broken. Part it!

I have given you positive karma to help you sleep at night.

you should have done the dirty deed without saying a word to us. It is your game after all.

drop it off at arcrevival's place in the dead of night. leave a little orphan needs a good home note on the bezel.

I'm always against parting out games if at all possible, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I've always loved PP but I hear it's a difficult PCB to fix. Isn't there someone who specializes in those boards out your way?

I will take every Pole Position for 75.00 you get

Pole Position is a great game. I save every one I come across. Rebuild the ARII, send the board to Dicky for a $75 fix, rebuild/replace the badly burned G07/Matsu/K7000, clean the cab up, replace the burned fuse holder, replace the edge connectors if needed, power it up, run it through test mode and prepare to qualify. The negative/indifferent feelings people have for this game make me realize how different people's childhoods, memories and priorities really are. I could not have an arcade without a Pole Position in it. The attract mode alone is what screams arcade ambiance to me. Bomp, bomp, bomp, BOMMMMP!!! I have a Pole cockpit and I am currently converting my Pole upright into a Pole II. I am keeping both. I SAY RESTORE IT.

How is the cabinet?

ArcRevival wakes up in the middle of the night to the soft crackling of raster static, only to find a new bundle of joy on the porch :D

Seriously though, sounds like you should send it to RLEVIN :)
Aside from that, as was said, there's a ton of PP cabs and parts out there, you may want to hold out and see if the PP clone board ever gets completed
otherwise, at least offer the cab up for free if it's relatively nice... I'd hate to see a good PP cab get burned.

Do what Phet said if you can get the boards fixed for 75.00. They sell well working. Non-working you can not give them away. Parts are not worth too much because so many are parted do to hard it is to get working boards.

Mine works great but cab is so-so was going to sell it. If I swapped cabs then I might want to keep it. $75 bucks . HUMMMM must resist have no room with the 3 cabs that are coming. Wow thats tempting.

I am really leaning toward pulling the monitor and selling it as-is... and if I get no buyers in a week or two... doom.

I have a query for you. Why do you publicly ask questions about everything you do or are about to do, then don't really listen to anybody other than those who agree with your first (see: only) decision? You are not 'tore' you are an attention whore. Now get out of my sight.
