I'm ready to hear some first person accounts about CAX.

Well, maybe it's time to schedule a klov party at my establishment. :D Avidgeek, flullthrottle and xx121 all came by my place to check it out as a close point of interest. I wished there was more time to just shoot the shit.

that would be cool as hell, id make the trek down fo sho

Agreed....we need a separate gathering say "Pre-CAX" or a destination after the hall closes Sat nite. Would be nice not to drive anywhere but a scheduled meet up would be a good idea.

Also, EVB should be considered a contender to make a run at FLY's world record in track and field.

I played Sunday after closing and started getting my groove back and made it close to a few 3rd places. At least I know where I stand with that game now.

Funny you should mention that... We were talking CC and suddenly he breaks out in song.

"I gonna luv me havok and 69
Rub him down with sum calamine
Cuz you make me swollen and I'm koll like that
Reach around my helo from the front to back."

It freaked me out cuz I thought he wanted to do what with the Major Havoc game? Now it all makes sense, thanks for clearing that up.

Well that makes me damn glad I'm on the other side of the country!

:D

** Edit **

You had me going for a minute there - and then I realized that I use just my Havok account there, 69 is just the backup in case Havok is taken.

You bastard!

:p

Time to whip out Photoshop, your Joysticks pic, and a Juno First...

Hey fucker, we talked way more than that! We talked about how shitty Domino Man was, how fun it is to say BUBBBBLESSSS!, how deals go wrong, and how Kris has the softest skin we have ever seen. We played Warlords (or maybe you were just watching laughing at how bad Chris and Phet were), we talked during the KLOV group pic, and we talked about Death Race and how I didnt really see the appeal.

Geez, tough crowd.

it seems like meeting klov'ers in person gives me a better impression of them than I had before.

I won't whine about canceling at the last minute, but I agree with what you say here from my experience last year.

Its one thing to talk on here and get to know people on here. Its totally different to meet them in person. So rewarding, in my opinion. I really got to know Jow, AG, FT, and Frizz last year and I'm very glad I did. At some of the local parties, I've gotten to know Fatherpain, VectorInvdr, EndOfLine, Session9, Kalan, Shertz, and others. Its easier to consider a "friend" on here a friend once you meet them and get to chill a few hours, shoot the shit.

Honestly, I've not met a KLOVer in person I didn't like. I suspect the KLOVers I have clashed with on here I'll like more in person than online.

Anyway, a few big regrets this year due to my absence. One is not getting to meet Phet. Hell, I'm concluding a deal with him and when its done I'll have 3 of his machines from Minn to CA - I'd like to shake the guys had at a minimum. Buy him a beer in the maximum for all you quote hackers. Hope he and atari90210 make it next year.

I regret not getting to meet Savit, but he's local, so I'm sure I'll see him around here at some point.

I really wanted to meet cleverlyj, as he and I have a very similar taste in games, but since he didn't make it ultimately it was a nonissue.

And everyone else - I value meeting you guys some day...putting names with faces, building friendships. A large part of my interest in this hobby is the network of friendly faces that enjoy the hobby with as much enthusiasm as I do.

Here's to you all.

Hey fucker, we talked way more than that! We talked about how sexy Domino Man was, how fun it is to say and play in BUBBBBLESSSS!, how relationships go wrong, how Kris has the bluest eyes. We played Warlords, cuddled, shared a sunset walk on the beach, reminisced about the KLOV group pic, and laughed about Death Race and how it got me all tingly inside. I will never forget our special time together.

Fixed......

What up all,

Its been a while since I posted last, Just wanted to add my thoughts on the show. I went with Bill Carlton, Ken House, John McAllister. We were the (3 crazy guys doing the 10,000,000 on Robotron) I was the one with a black Defender shirt on.

what a blast! fun times! random thoughts....

The guy doing the WR video on KLAX, that was Jimmy Linderman. He also destroyed the WR on Galaga 88. over 1.6 Million. And last year did 30,000,000 WR on MR. Do. ask the guy to do 1,000,000 on Qbert. he can usually do it first man. insane.

I had some good game scores at the show...

Stargate - 1,500,000. stopped the game just before the power went out.
Joust - 1,800,000
Robotron 10,000,000

would have made another run at the Space Invaders WR. (55,000). I did 25,000 at the Seattle show... but no ref at this event so no attempt.

over all it was a blast. props to full throttle for saving the day!

respectz,

Eric EZE Liddell

Glad someone finally beat the score on that crate. I'll stick a 2,000,000 up there for next year. Whoop! ;)

Oh, too bad we didn't get a chance to play two player Joust! :/

Hi!

CAX was a total blast! I loved both the games and all of you guys:) You all made me feel very welcome!

Karl (Fullthrottle) showed me many different games and how they worked and was pretty patient. He really opened my eyes to games other than my favorite Ms Pac...

Brian (XXI21) was fun to play with along with Andy (Savit4l8r) and there were a lot of laughs... after the picture and the better get to know you session... dinner w/Avidgeek, Arcadejunkie, 8bitnintendo, P(insert number)M, The blonde guy who doesn't post much, and PDog....was a blast. I never laughed so hard in my life at this meal... of course some of that was my fault... "First you start with a bone..." ahem...anyway...

Jow was TALL, either that or I am short...and his son is absolutely as cute as can be!! The Shanman and family were super nice and he even let his kids have some non-kashi cookies... and Gregatron was fun to talk to, and Chris w/numbers after his name was fun and funny. Phet didn't like me... but I can't please everyone... there were so many and all were great! EVB was pretty cool, Acejedi and I didn't talk much but just in passing. I had a leslie sighting and he sat next to me while playing ms pac for a while.

My favorite non-pac game was that upright pinball!! I want one! I really liked EVB's cocktail w/96 in one too. I was so mad I was able to get high score 3,4,5,6,7,8,... etc... and the one time I was kicking butt and had way over the real high score the game bugged out and stopped working correctly... and I never repeated it. I was bummed...but I have a witness to my Ms Pac Prowess:)

It was a great time! You guys are all great!!

Josie, I'm really glad you experienced the essence of the video arcade era. To be so mad over a pac-man high score that could have been really brings back the memories however I am truly sorry the game bombed out on you. :D

That was an awesome show (crappy pic below). My friend here back home could not believe it.

Tell your buddy "thanks again" for the advice on fixing my Star Castle.

great to hear you feel this way as it was my mousetrap

Aw, don't take it personally...you didn't MAKE Mousetrap...or, did ya?! ;)

Don't get me wrong - I'm glad it was there, and loved playing it! To me, CAX was about playing weird and forgotten games that objectively aren't that good...but are fascinating in their own right!

There's a reason some games are classics and some games are forgotten. Even w/ the simple graphics and sounds , magic happened w/ Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, Q*Bert, etc etc etc ....Mousetrap, not so much. It's just got that weird home-made poor-man's Pac-Man about it. Wait...actually more like a poor-man's Ladybug. ;)
