Guys, I am drowning in projects, parts, pieces, and other such misc. junk because of this hobby. I am at a point where I don't even know what equipment I own anymore. I have decided I will not check Craigslist, Coin Op Warehouse's facebook, KLOV FS section, eBay, or anywhere else without a need, a need being defined as something like I need this part to finish up this game, or a friend wants a game so I find them one. It is time to get down to business and fix some of these things! Sell instead of buy. I have 4 PP's in various states, 2 Gorfs, 2 SI and a SI Deluxe, 3 Defenders and a Defender cabinet, 2 Z cabs, 3 Golden Tees... I am also sitting on 2 pins that aren't even on legs yet, several more pins that are assembled but not functional. Also have a mostly finished 60-in-1. I am putting myself on notice!

Join the club. :p Although, admittedly, I only have one 'dupe' machine and I'm already planning to dump that ASAP.

I think with my current backlog of projects that after I pick up maybe one more pin and a Missile Command I'm going to chill out for a while. Besides some of these projects still require a lot of pricey parts, so that alone is more money than I should be spending.

Welcome to the Addiction :D

I currently have 4 Robotrons (1 in game Room, 3 projects), 2 Jousts (Projects), 2 Stargates (2 projects, but one made it to the game room), 2 Pengos (1 project, 1 game room)... plus lots and lots of projects... some very old too :(

I have a garage and shed full of project cabinets, then I have a work area with a shelf full of PCB's that one day I'll learn how to fix them all...or go crazy trying

I still check CL every day though, and pass on lots of games I would buy if I had the room for. Having a limited amount of space helps a lot. Crazy prices on CL also helps (Not paying $2K for your POS game...)...

Yes, crazy CL price do help. The latest down here is some guy listing $500-800 games that don't even work. Good stuff.

We have all been there! So the question is, what do you want to sell and what do you want to keep? Time to start getting organized and making lists so you can get everything you don't need or want sold.

When we start this hobby it seems we buy everything then over the years start to whittle it down to a concise collection. Im thru both those phases. Now i just want a few more titles. Then ill just make them the best they can be.

The other problem inlies with that.... My dad has been doing this since the 80's nonstop, so all 17 years of my life this is what I know. So it isn't like a new collector buying all he can anymore :p

I got out of control with vintage BMX like that. got to where it was a burden, not a pleasure. got down to 1 BMX bike and couldn't be happier.

the fine line where an interest becomes and obsession becomes a burden.....moderation in everything as the ancients would say, eh?

Though I agree, I think this hobby rather easily falls in the lap of "Gluttony". Personally I am rapidly filling the amount of space i have to dedicate to this (which isn't much), and that keeps me in check.

If I had an Empty warehouse at my disposal with 400 amp power then I could very easily lose control, as it stands I have to cherry pick the specific games I want, and if I buy a game "because it's local and cheap" I NEED to double check it's physical measurements to make sure I can get "it AND... " rather than "It INSTEAD OF... "

Yeah.. I've tried that too.

Picked up about 6 games since...

I'm sure my current collection has more non-working games than working too

Here's to actually sticking to it!

Well I've done well so far :p Made it through day 1 without checking anything. Halfway through day 2 and doing well. Haha lets see how long it keeps going.

So my buying freeze turned into a real nice complete non-working Qix, Steve's Punchout, and either a Dr. Who pinball...or a Fish Tales (haven't decided which one).

All done between yesterday and today.

You WILL be back
