God, why do people DO this? I swear to god, I pulled this driver board to test these things, find out why my sling isn't working right? It's a Gottlieb system 3. There are 4 MOSFETS that were replaced.

3 different types of replacement were put in. They SHOULD be 2N10L's.

I've got the following in here...what the hell is this shit...

K1446 6M4
NEC K736 4X (2 of these)
NTE 934M NTE2885

Also looks like all of the header molex were rebuilt at some point, okay..fine...that hasn't been an issue...but the entire back of the PCB, every trace connected to those headers? The mask is bubbled, wrinkled, and flaked off in some places. Flux crud everywhere, really bad where the MOSFETS were replaced..one place literally covered in flux half the size of a dime..

My local electronics store did NOT have .156 headers, housings, trifurcon pins, OR any of the MOSFETS I can use or acceptable replacements, or they had them and I can't locate them due to the hodgepodge way their shit is laid out. I guess I could've asked, but if your store is THAT frustrating to locate parts, I don't feel like you deserve the business. I should've just ordered the shit online a week ago and would've had it in hand already, but NOOOOO...I try to do the cool thing and support a local mom and pop, and all I end up with is $6 wasted gas, no parts, and I'm f***ing pissed off...

I can't find specs on any of this shit. Fuck it. Going to order replacements and kill them all.

I'd rather wait a week for parts than waste my time visiting the local store only to find two or three out of the 10 parts I need, and all twice to four times as much as I can get them online.

If browsing the junked parts weren't so interesting, I'd never go there.

My local electronics store did NOT have...

Where did you go? Fry's?? Radio Shack??? I hate both and not only that they charge a premium for what little they do have. F'ers!

I have an order from Marco Specialties coming in next Monday. Wish I had it today to work on over the weekend.

Dude, you need to quit sniveling and whining. You have a Mouser very close to you, and could have had the parts shipped in a day without overnight freight charges.

System 3 mosfets are very finicky. Not just any old replacement will work. I have found from experience over the years that the NTE replacements listed simply do not work in a System 3 machine. You have to use what the manual calls for.

I don't like system 3 machines anyway.

Yes. I should've just ordered it and been done with it. I've got nobody to blame but myself. Just kicking my own ass over trying to save a few bucks on shipping versus having the damn parts in hand now, when I actually need them.

I went and metered all of the MOSFETS. I've got one for sure that's wasted, and 2 that are questionable. Fun part is that the random ones that were put in there seem to be fine. OTTO had posted on my other thread that Q3 and Q4 are the slings, and Q4 is the one I'm testing as bad so......that's promising.

*Edit* Mouser is in Mansfield? lol. That's like a 45 min drive. I'm getting the steel toeds out to kick my own ass now. :p

This, totally!

It seems I *always* need the weird thing. Regardless of what it is, I rarely ever find what I need without driving around and getting aggravated. I'd like to support local places, but they sure as hell haven't been supporting me!

I have a crappy place like 3 blocks from my house. Only carry NTE. Charge 3-4 times as much as Mouser. Never want to order anything.

Hey, I want to support my local too. But they make it so damn hard. I hardly even bother anymore with them

Just because this may be the only time I get to say this, but... YOU'RE WRONG! :)

I ordered them yesterday before their cutoff, they shipped and sent the email yesterday, and I have no parts today, dammit! Really, it's only 45 miles. I don't get it, but I totally expect they will be here tomorrow and I will have Stargate fixed soon. Still gotta get a crimper to fix STTNG, but that's going to have to wait to scrounge up more money. We'll see how my bills pan out after I get paid on Friday. :(

Here is the crimper that will make my "wrong", right. http://www.tequipment.net/PlatinumTools16801.html

I've had it bookmarked on Amazon for DAYS. I've just gotta scrounge up the 30 for it. I know that sounds stupid in a hobby where machines cost thousands of dollars, but we hired a ton of people at work and now I get no overtime, and they cut us off right after we got back from a vacation and TPF....worst timing ever. :(
