Illegal Ebay Auctions

Its odd, most of those auctions they have a line "You are paying for the cd media and my time, the contents of the disc are blah blah blah"

This one doesn't even bother with that.

"Happily reported"?

Dudes making what, $8 profit off of mostly unavailable games from Sega?

You go Columbo. Real proud of ya.

Sorry, regardless of him actually getting any profit by doing this he is still distributing ROMs and software to run these ROMs illegally. And from what it looks like he's been doing this for 2-3 years now. He'll be lucky that only Ebay delete's his account and freeze's his paypal account permanently. If SEGA or original owners of the emulator software found out they could take some very serious legal action against him. Unlicensed Distribution of Copyrighted Media is very illegal pretty much all over the world.

You do realize that about 99.99999999999% of the world "doesn't care" right? That includes the vast majority of the copyright holders. We're not talking about the guy distributing a games that even came out this CENTURY.... but I digress...

BTW - If the guy's been doing it for 2-3 years I doubt you're making much of a dent with your reporting activities.

But I bet you feel better having done so though, right?

EDIT: BTW - The auction is still up so evidently even ebay doesn't care either.

Wow, hit a sensitive spot.........

Anyways, I digress, its still illegal. I don't care what Ebay does, much less what anybody in this thread does either because I didn't ask them to report him. I wanted to gauge reactions from this thread that or determine if this is something that is usually seen on Ebay.

Not really. I don't much care... though I find it actually a little sad that people feel it necessary to police ebay of all places... (not you, but others in this thread).

Yes... it's common. (to answer your question).

No... it's not a big deal.

The most that would ever happen is that a copyright holder complains to ebay and ebay pulls the auction and sends the seller a note saying not to do it again.... that's about it.

Wow, ebay slaps em on the wrist......lolz

Oh wells, sorry i'm not trying to start drama here, much less just reading text can be very construed without emotion to back it up.

Ebay sounds like a slow version of youtube when it comes to copyrighted media.

Yup... that is about it. A few years back I was selling 48-in-1 boards on ebay... I got a note from ebay that Namco complained and not to do it again. I stopped. Others I know didn't... they got a 2nd... and a 3rd... and a 4th notice... etc. I don't think ANY of them actually lost their accounts.

Well your more like selling the boards to the games. Not just roms on CDs lol.
I don't see how yours could be considered illegal. It's like people selling cabinets or pcbs.

Why would Namco be so picky -_-
