This hobby is fun. Have I mentioned that? I'm also in a great mood. Why? well, I just got back home with a trailer full of goodies. Let's start off with the back story.

My craigslist hobby requires that not only do I check CL 4 or 5 times a day, but also ebay, KLOV, and anywhere else. All of the local facebook trading pages know that I'm always looking for a vid or pin.

Friday night I see an ad pop up on CL. I called the guy. It's an OP that has been in business 30+ years. He said that the owner's wife wants the old games thinned out. He told me that his boss is a hoarder, but it was his job (per the boss's wife) to sell and clear out this inventory. He said they are closed but to call him Monday morning at 8:30. I sat around waiting Monday morning. Almost even decided not to call, but I decided I would. He agreed to not sell anything else until I got there, as I was 4 1/2 hours away.

When I arrived I was greeted by a very nice guy, this guy wasn't your typical CL seller. He showed me all around the place.. games in every corner, it was Christmas.
I tagged Ms Pac cabinets, Galagas, Donkey Kongs, Playchoice 10's, an R-type, Centipedes, basically any midway/atari/nintendo cab I could get my hands on, I showed interest in.
He wrote a list.... then... there it was.

A beautiful Environmental Discs of Tron. It's like the light was beaming directly down on it. I knew what it was, I had to have it.
I casually asked him if it was for sale, which he explained, yes.
I knew then no matter what price we agreed on, it would happen, and it would be mine.
I took a good look at it, didn't want to seem to anxious, and I was in love.
I told him I was interested in it as well.

We walked around a little more, and after seeing a whole stack of marquees, I decide to make him an offer on he whole lot. We go back and forth, and decide on a price. I pay him. He looked at me and said, "This is like the tv show, now the ice is broken".
After that, it was all smooth. We figured up a price on all the items, I emptied my wallet completely... yadda yadda.
Anyways, I'm sure you guys just want to see the goods. So... here's the photos.

Please note, the EDOT is absolutely for sale... and it is UNCUT. I just got it home though, and it's not working. Screen is garbled.
so let me try to figure out what I'm going to ask for it. Feel free to pm me if you are interested, with a serious offer.
Thanks for reading!
enjoy!
These are just SOME of the photos.----I have to go back and get the rest!

I guess as the saying goes if you love something set it free!! ;)

Great find.

Wait wait....I see a number....I guess, $5000? "It's only going up each year."

Do I win? ;)

I'd have loved to ride along on that one! I'm guessing a lot was left behind.

yes. Lol, as bad as it sounds. My mind says hold on to it, but my back says it doesnt want to unload it off the trailer. if its unloaded and put in place, then I dont want my kids to even touch it. lol.

I'd love to find a trailer full of sit down cabs for my arcade. I could see this, Sinistar, Missile Command, Red Baron, Omega Race...

Tempted to research what a reasonable offer would be....I better not. Gonna go for a MTB ride or something and get the hell away from this, lol

ever heard of Space Tactics? he had a sit down of this... i passed. would gladly share that info.....with purchase of tron. jk. jk.pm me if you want that info.

Ok ill say it. You think this hobby is fun? Not for the games, but for the profit you'll make buying from an uniformed operator. Don't pretend to be an enthusiast when you're actually just a flipper.

Thanks fizgig.
I'm sure it could easily appear to be that way, but trust me. it's not.
If you must know my background, then so be it.

I grew up in my father's arcade., and played/lived basically around tons of games. Some I remember, some I don't.

All through my life, I've owned a Ms Pacman, which is still at my dad's house. I've bought some, kept some, sold some.
I see nothing.. absolutely nothing... wrong with me passing off this EDOT to someone who wants it.

I don't remember the game. It's not my grail. I've never stepped foot into one. I did however obtain a few of my wants on this run.. including a PC10 finally, a burgertime, as well as my first original Pacman. Never owned one of those either.

Since I lost my job, it's kinda hard to continue carrying on my passion with arcade games financially. What's a good way to keep that going in the meantime? Well, I vote for "flipping" an occasional game (that I wouldn't want) to pay for some I do. And guess what? Whoever buys the EDOT will be thankful I did. If not, it could sit in the warehouse another 15 years, or better yet, become part of a bon fire, or thrown off the roof. ;-)

I also wouldn't say I took advantage of him. I spent quite a bit of money to get this load.

3 months ago I sold my Subaru STI.... a car I didn't have to have. Why? because I wasn't an "enthusiast" anymore, and it was just sitting there.

I took that money, bought a van, bought an enclosed trailer, and am going to be a mobile arcade for kids birthday parties. Is that wrong to do, since I would be making a profit, yet keeping my classic games alive and in my possesion?

There are QUITE a few local collectors that I've helped. I've practically gave away cabs, marquees, bezels, working boards, etc to help keep their machines alive. I don't think a flipper would do that. I'm in it for the hobby.

I can't think of many guys that would pass up an EDOT. I'm sorry if it makes me a flipper.

Sincerely, with no flame intended.

Hey Fiz... what did you do with the sit down Spy Hunter you picked up instead of my upright? I seem to remember you... selling it? No? How long did you own it? Does that make you a flipper too? Just wondering what the "rules" are...
