Does anybody know offhand if these will boot with a dead battery ?
Or do they do some weird suicide thing if the battery dies ? (looses certain programming)

Finally found a rough manual scan for it, just haven't really dug into it.

Picked one up that's pretty dead and was just gonna play with it a bit.
Not super interested in spending a whole lot of time on it though, actually picked it up for the cabinet mostly for another project in mind.

Not sure, but the IGT's I've dealt with will NOT work with a dead battery. They will turn on, and act like they are starting up, then give you either a Low Voltage or CMOS error code.

Once you replace the battery, you have to do a SafeRAM Clear to reset it. If it has a dollar bill changer, you also have to do a new SET. Both of those are accomplished with special IC's you put in where the game's SP ROM is located. You can usually pick up the Clear and Set chips for about $20/pair.

I'd have to see your CPU to determine if this applies....

Yeah, I just wasn't sure if some of that applied to slots this old. (1981-1982 ish)
I've only worked on MUCH newer stuff.

I had read somewhere about RAM clearing these with particular errors, but sadly enough the monitor needs help too. Can't make out much, vertically collapsing and just plain not sure if the boardset is even doing enough to show an error.
I may either fix this monitor or rig a working one up enough to see if it'll show me anything.
After replacing the battery of course.

No dollar bill acceptor...... all coin. Nickels.

That's technically a Video Poker. Completely different animal here. I fixed a monitor in one a while back, and it had the 13" G07 in it.

I think I replaced a battery in one once. Then I just had to reset it with the jackpot key in the side...

"Video Poker"
Yeah, you're right...... I tend to sling the term "slot" out there for anything gambling/casino related, etc. Just a bad habit.

I may drag this one in and poke around with it a bit. Just gotta get a good monitor connected to see if it'll show me anything. The one in it is an RGB 1401A and of course has the connectors for just quick swapping monitors. (slide in mating connectors) I've got a 13" G07 around here and a 13" WG, so I'll grab one of those and see what happens.

I had a similar machine awhile back. Picked it up with a fried monitor at a garage sale for $50. It looks like yours has the same monitor, a Cetronix. I replaced it with a 13" GO7 and found out that the game board puts out an inverted video signal. I ended up wiring in a Nintendo inverter board and all was well. I latter sold it for $500. That was a couple / three years ago.

this is not a PE+, Mod. there are no clear or set chips for a fortune 1.
reset key is the only reset on these.
these will play w/out a batt. they just lose the jackpot/credit settings when turned on/off.
since yours has credits.

i ran a remote multi-batt setup w/ diode and never looked back. like you do on a mpu.
as those old factory mounts don't make a very good connection most of the time.

I understand that NOW. He didn't show me it was a video poker at first, just mentioned an "IGT slot". I didn't recognize the 'Fortune 1' reference which is why I prefaced my reply with "not sure", then changed my advice once I saw what he actually had.

Ya might want to read ALL the posts before responding...

Trust me ...... it took me forever to figure out what I actually had in regards to it being a Fortune 1. (I hadn't heard of them either)
All references wanted to point to the PE's or PE+'s, etc.... and I knew that wasn't what I had.

Hadn't had a chance to really dig in to the manual yet and poke around, some of it's not that great of a scan.
Would just order one, now that I know what it is, but don't know if this will be a keeper machine or not.

fortune 1 is a great machine. one of the better designs, imo. the things are bullet proof for the most part -minus the monitor.

if only arcade games were built this good:)

if u decide to part it out, LMK...drop me a pm.
I would be interested in the game pcb and maybe the backplane and sound pcb, if yours has that.

Funny you mentioned the sound pcb...... when I first kinda dinked with it I already knew the monitor was hashed and I wondered how am I suppose to know if this thing is doing anything ? (used to listening to arcades play blind) I noticed a spot where there were mounts, but nothing there and a lone connector hanging. Didn't see a speaker of any kind anywhere. After glancing in the manual I realize now it was most likely the sound pcb is what used to be mounted there.
Mounted under the monitor shelf right? (above the hopper)

Everything else seems to be there, just not doing much.
Hadn't played with it yet much either.

Gonna be looking for a belly glass for this one if anyone knows of one for this particular Draw Poker.

yes that's where it mounts. the speaker should be mounted on the inside door, near the top ballast. you will see the vent holes if it's not mounted.

Anyone have any leads on a source for the belly glass like I pictured above ? (IGT Draw Poker)
Now that I have the lights working again it actually looks worse when lit. Aside from the crack, it's pretty burnt and peeling from the glass.

Cool..... it's sites like that I'm looking for. I'll definitely look through the list.
Who knows if I'll come across this exact one, might have to just find one close or a different set all together. Just sucks because the other two pieces of glass are perfect and I do like the mirrored details on these.

I did find a matching top glass to mine on ebay, but they didn't have the belly glass. :(

damn,

chucked one like that a couple years ago when i got out of slot glass.. I may have one person who i used to deal with..
Ill try to find their email and fire one off to them

Would definitely appreciate, I'm not having much luck otherwise.

I would have thought this was a common one to find, but I'm starting to think maybe the Fortune 1 stuff isn't as common anymore as say the PE, PE+, etc. ( I find a lot of 17" IGT glass, but very few 15" glass)

This one is the 15" x 8" glass.
