IFPA Stern AC/DC Launch Party in Garland, TX on 2/24/2012

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to offer a reminder that Nickelrama in Garland, TX is
hosting the IFPA Stern AC/DC Launch Party on February 24, 2012 at 4:00
PM.

Ray, the owner, is setting all of his pinball machines to free play
during the party. There will be plenty of prizes offered during the
event. Sponsors of our prizes include Stern Pinball and Texas Pinball
Festival.

Pinball Free Play and Registration begins at 4:00 PM.

The qualification for the IFPA Stern AC/DC Tournament begins at 7:00
PM.

If we have 8+ Kids (12 & under), I will be happy to run a Kid's
Tournament as well.

Visit http://www.nickelrama.com/ for more information.

Looking forward to seeing old faces as well as some new ones!

Placed like 7th, got a cool Texas Pinball Festial hat. My kid matched and got a TPF shirt. Very cool. I like the game, enough to say that you hardly even notice Angus' HUGE UGLY MUG, and yes it looks even bigger in person!

The fact they tied the music selection to playfield sciring means that probably somewhwere there is an exploitable way to get big points easily, but it does make it fun that you can kind of pick a goal at the start of the game then once you clear that and hit the jukebox again pick a different goal and get music to go with it.

The bell shot is a death warrant about 75% of the time, but it also enables a playfield modifier for 20 sec for 2x scoring after a few hits so can be very powerful esp in multiball. One guy had a shot off the cannon with bell mode on that was worth 19 million!

Stern quality reared its head again. One of the two machines had a broken cannon minutes after I showed up. The guys tried to work on it, but then when it looked like they had it, the solder joint broke off the motor! everyone played on both machines to make it fair, but yes, epic lulz over a pin that was literally unboxed less than 24 hours ago breaking....

Most scores were in the 8-30 million range, outliers on the 50-80 million range. My best game was 36.

Cool man! Good to hear. The local supplier of parts here is a Stern reseller so they always have the newest pins to play while you wait for parts or just play before you buy type deal. I hit 42 million today while buying some lamps, lol

Bummer, probably would have gone had I known this was going down last night. My son would have had a blast.

Guess I need to frequent this part of the forum a bit more often!

I could've told you that.. ;)

BTW, one of the guys there last night was saying the scoop on a machine at the Plano Movies 10 wasn't working. Dunno if that's one of yours or not but might want to check it out if you're in the area. What game is over there? It's not too far from my house, but I haven't been over there in years...frankly, I'm surprised they stay open with the 1.50 movies and such.

Thats a Stern Indiana Jones. Hot surprised that the scoop isnt working... Its going to be a couple of week til I can get to it though, gota travel outa state for a while.

Yep, that's the one. Couldn't remember which game he had said it was, but I was surprised there was something recent-ish in there. :)

Yeah well, its soon to not be in there. I'm moving all the pins to Webb Chapel as soon as we get the liftgate installed on our truck!

Sweeet.. I told the guy that might be a possibility. Personally, I look foward to having them all in one place. It's really convienient for me to stop there on the way home. :)

I might end up with two Shrek's. I was thinking about putting Family Guy software on one of them... :)

That would be kinda strange. Wonder if they would get a lot of complaints that the machine is broken? LOL. Willing to bet most people wouldn't even notice.

As I'm sure you know Shrek and Family guy use the same play filed just with different art and toys. Obviously the voice prompts and sound effects would be wrong but the game should function normally.
