If you hate piracy, flag this please. Thanks.

Not sure what it was but some dumb ass on craigslist here always posts that he can set you up with a modded wii and not to waste money on games anymore.

Before our video game store, I had an anime store. Piracy is so rampant in that area and because of licensing fees the Japanese companies get making the DVDs like $30 each, it ended up a mess. People pirating anime wrecked the industry. Tons of American licensing companies have gone out of business, people wondered why we closed our store.. it got so 4-5 people a day would come in and ask question on a series to find out if it was worth their trouble to download or not.

Now people are pissed that they can't pirate as much dubbed junk, they don't want subtitles but don't want to pay to have the companies dub it... and they only blame the companies who use to dub it. nuts.

People just don't understand that if you like a product you need to support it instead of pirating it. Otherwise it's going to go away. These companies don't finance this stuff for the art of it all.

+ Infinity on this one! Yeah,if you're not gonna support something don't bitch when it disappears.

I'm with ya. And the multi-hundred dollar Anime DVD collection, legit purchased at like, Best Buy or Suncoast before they went under, attests to that. Half the time the dubs are so damn bad I end up turning them off in the DVD menu anyway and turning on subtitles.

+10. In the beermaking hobby, people will go to the net because their local guy is "outrageous", yet b*itch that no local stores exist anymore. Keep in mind that a 50% markup means a typical supply order goes from $20->30, or a $500/yr budget becomes $750. And in a hobby that is 100% recreational and all your hard work goes down the toilet (literally)...

C'mon people, support your suppliers so they continue to be there for you...

I agree on dubs :) I was shocked when I saw how many anime fans were so into those horrid voice actors. The Japanese tracks were always so much better.

Hey, now. If I have my way, one of these days, that'll be *MY* voice you can call horrid...besides, a lot of them also do voice overs on Video Games. :)

argh, yeah here too. Better yet is when people come in and brag about having a modded 360. why the heck would the brag to someone who sells the stuff for a living?

Yes and I really hate it when I'm playing some game and all I can do is picture one of the Gundam Wing guys because it's the same English voice actor or some shit. It's like dude, your voice actually kind of fits the game character, but you fucking ruined Gundam Wing, okay. Go away.

At least most anime based games these days also let you choose a Japanese language track. I'm sorry, but I've really loved the Naruto games since PS2, but the American dub is terrible. I was so grateful when the 360 series offered a Japanese track and now the PS3 Ultimate Storm series does as well. Prior to that I refused to play the American versions.

And I guess it'll be your voice someday that I won't be listening to since I'll be listening to your Japanese counterpart :D

Heh,yeah.I'm into anime and there's nothing worse than for the voice actor to literally half ass his dialogue. We're talking the "can obviously tell you're reading it directly off the script with no passion" kind of terribleness.

Not into Naruto, but I love me some Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist.Although FMA's voice actors for the most part are pretty damn good,Bleach's are mostly freaking horrid. The main reason I'm trying to learn Japanese with Rosetta Stone is so I can just watch my favorite anime in it's original (and best) form.

Same here.

I haven't really watched anything recently. I've only seen a few Naruto, it's alright, but the dub is craptastic, for sure.

I grew up on Dragon Ball Z.

One of my favorite things to do is watch with the US voices and the more directly translated subtitles at the same time, so I really know how crappy the translation is.

I really hate "localization"

Seriously OT at this point, but I have a few anime DVDs I'm looking to sell. Any interest in Hellsing Ultimate volume 1-4? Volumes 2 & 3 are the deluxe two disc editions with metal cases, 1 & 4 are standard, single disc DVDs.

I also have Appleseed Ex Machina in a duluxe two-disc metal case, but I might keep that one, I'm not sure.

They're all in good shape, and while I haven't watched them, they look clean on the underside, only minor scratches if that. If anyone's interested, shoot me an offer. :)
