If you ever see a Tron pinball, you can thank me...

I was talking to Chas at Stern Pinball recently, and I mentioned how I'd like to see more new pins with less licensing and more generic themes - sort of like how Funhouse, Whirlwind, and Medieval Madness were done - and they were talking about how certain licensed titles were big moneymakers overseas where pinball is still much more popular than over here (although Chas conceded that it might have been a mistake to release 24 and CSI so close together, and so long after their initial popularity).

So - I told them - one pinball licensed theme that I think a lot of collectors may be interested in would be a Tron pinball, especially with the new Tron movie coming out soon. The answer was, "Hmm. Tron would be cool, wouldn't it?"

So, if a Tron pinball comes out, you know who to thank...

dude........that would be awesome.

It'd be awesome, but I couldn't afford it! New pins are just too expensive for me. If they weren't I'd probably already have a Family Guy or a Shrek.

peeling of of jowseph's NIB pins......
that would be one NIB pin I would have to figure
out a way to buy.

thanks mod

Garry Stern?

Tron has been discussed as a theme on RGP for years. I'm sure they've been well aware of the niche demand for such a title :)

Agreed, Sorry Mod but it has been discussed for awhile....but thanks for suggesting it to him!

Tell Chas that we need a Goonies 25th or 30th Anniversary pinball.

I actually talked to Warner Bros about the licensing for this, but then had some family issues that came up and I dropped it.

I would love a pin that said "Hey You Guys!" when you hit the start button.

A Tron pin would be nice, but not as nice as a Goonies pin.

Just because people talk about this stuff online doesn't mean anyone in a position to do anything about it listens or even reads that stuff. People complain about the price of gas all the time, but gas doesn't go down.

These guys base their decisions on what they think will make them money, not on what we all think. They are trying to appeal to a larger audience, and that means popular culture - which is why we see pins like Family Guy, WSP, etc. Or perhaps RGP has a huge thread extolling the desires for a Poker pinball? Or perhaps a CSI pinball?

Okay, so you guys have talked about it a lot, but I actually told them about it. Dunno if any of you pinheads ;) have done so....

A Tron pin would be great, I think it would get attention from younger players to. It's kind of funny, when 1 of my kids friends (teenagers) comes over for the 1st time and see's the game room I usually hear, 'Tron - Cool'. Talking to them they never saw the movie and don't know where they know Tron from, but they recognize it over the other pins and vids.

Thanks Mod. I'm hoping that they make a tron pin. I've sent them a couple of emails over the past year about it but have no idea if they were even read. The fact that you were able to talk directly with someone who might have a hand in making this a reality is definitely a great thing. I hope it happens. If it does, Tron will likely be the first pin I buy and will definitely be the first pin I buy NIB.

Dude, I would do anything for a Goonies pin.

Should be "Hey You Guys!" when you put a coin in. Think the "cowabunga" from the TMNT vid.
