If you could mod/hack a game, what would you do?

Baby Pacman should look like a baby pacman, the "fruits" should be based on what a baby would want (Yo Yo, Pacifier, etc.), and the mazes should at least have some graphical elements to tie to the theme. Some of these are very doable (the fruit changes for example).

I'd make the Mario Bros tutorials skippable.
Yeah that and every other boring cut-scene and tutorial that forces you to watch in every game.

I don't know why game developers suddenly thought they had movie-making talent but they don't. They all suck and should just stop.

I totally agree. BITD I was really turned-off by the Baby Pac-Man video elements, since it looked like a considerable step backwards. Why would Midway do that???

Who knows. I have no clue how the game was developed in terms of pinball and video game developers. My understanding however is that this was another nail in the coffin of the Namco/Bally Midway relationship. Given that, they probably were not really that keen on going crazy on the video game elements since they were already on shaky ground in that department as it is.

However, Jr. Pacman is also in this camp on some level and has way more theme-based customization.

Again, this is totally ripe for a simple ROM mod.

Didn't read all the replies, forgive me if it's already been posted:

A hack to fix the control response on Venture so that it's not an unplayable mess would be nice. The ColecoVision version has better control.
Old reply here.... I always wondered if the Venture laggy response is due to the game being tuned specifically for the big ball stick

The Colecovision version replicates the control lag issue. The review from the February 1983 issue of Electronic Games (pg 36) even noted that: http://www.ataricompendium.com/archives/magazines/electronic_games/electronic_games.html

A similar criticism was made in the February 1983 issue of Electronic Fun (pg. 61): http://www.ataricompendium.com/archives/magazines/electronic_fun/electronic_fun.html
