I believe the multi board is a cool thing, but if you could change out some games and put in others what would you do?

I would dump lady bug and put in Sinistar.

what are the chances of getting a new one?? in all seriousness. I mean you see how they started with a 3in1. then a 6in1? then so on and so on till 48 and then 60.. whens the next. 75in1? 100in1?? I hope they make a new one.

It would be great if they would tweak the line up. Or add a few new ones.

Considering MAME does thousands in one, there should be a boardset that plugs into JAMMA with basically "all in one." Assuming cost aside. You can get an SSD drive with 300+ GB space. For $800 or so you ought to be able to get a one-board plus storage solution with a JAMMA plug included. Wait a year or so.

Its MAME.

A medium level computer will give you access to ALL the games, no need to choose!

And the latest version of MAME (v144) emulates much better than the 60-in-1 board's old version (v39).

Thats a pretty sweet looking board! love you can program it!!
Happy to see alot of my fav games on the list, including Sinistar! :)

I know it's a horizontal game (so is Rally X too), but I really wish there was a way to throw on Missile Command. It would be the main reason to install the never-really-needed third button and would make such delightful use out of a fresh trackball.

Would be interesting to know how exactly they chose the games they did. Maybe the obscure titles were chosen due to size limitations or something.

The programmable pcb listed above looks awesome. Everything the 60-in-1 should have been.

If I had a choice to dump some games and add others, I think I'd add Pac-Mania and Galaga88 to complete those series.

I'd dump Space Panic, Shao-Lin's Road, Van Van Car, King & Balloon, Jumping Jack, Tank Battalion, Arkanoid(It's impossible to properly play Arkanoid with a trackball), and Gunsmoke(because of the awful sound artifacts and the fact that it's a bit silly that they added one game to make use of all 3 buttons).

Sinistar is a good choice, but it's another one that would be hampered by the lack of 49-way controls.

exactly! $50 computer + $10 monitor = thousands of games.

I can see why many would rather have an all-in-one board vs a mame setup.

You left out quite a few expenses there...
Assuming you want a true arcade experience, you'll have to shell out another $200 for a used 19" CGA monitor, $59 for a J-Pac, $39 for an opti-pac if you want to use a track ball, another $50 for a VGA to CGA converter or $80 for an ArcadeVGA card. Total those costs and you are looking at a figure closer to $400 + time spent installing everything and getting everything functioning properly while trying to tweak a front-end.

I do realize there are cheaper alternatives to the above, but the above is a pretty close comparison to what a mame setup would have to consist of to be compared to a 60-in-1 out of the box.

If they fixed the friggin sound problems first I'd be happy.
Poor emulation on some games, and way too high levels on others (yes, I'm looking at you, 1943).

Also put Asteroids and Moon Patrol on there so that the Multicade marquee everyone uses would be accurate! :p

the computer doesn't capture standing in front of a machine.

the programmable pcb will be a one-stop once they get taito and konami selections on it.
I've decided to wait a year for them to get up to speed on more selection of the 1981-1982 years.
I'll not buy another overseas multi-board again. I'm going to wait for the phoenix arcade project to get more solid and that's where I'll spend any future money.

The new ArcadeSD board (available at www.phoenixarcade.com) is the next generation of PROGRAMMABLE board. The one mentioned above is obsolete. Both are original products by Clay Cowgill. Once the Chinese started reproducing the older version it was cancelled and the new version was designed. No new games are coming out for it (the old one). The new ArcadeSD board has new games coming out quarterly (for the time being anyway).

It also supports Missile Command in the vertical orientation as well!

I have both. Get the ArcadeSD. You will not regret the decision.

I'd love an All in One game. But I also don't want a MAME. Those XXXX-1 Pcb's look interesting but I've read some games are slow. And I don't really want to take a 300 dollar chance right now.
