Generally, when a monitor takes about 10 minutes to be at full brightness and warm up, what's wrong? The first 10 seconds are almost black, then it slowly gets brighter and brighter, until it's nice looking.... what's the usual culprit?

if its like that with new caps, tubes getting weak. to a point all monitors need a little bit to warm up but 10 mins is way too long for full warmup.

After messing around with it, it's only about a minute, it seems... but even that seems a little absurd. ;) The first 7 or 8 seconds is still dark. But it comes to shortly thereafter.

A minute is normal. Especially with tube-based tech. It has to warm up.

Don't forget these aren't designed to be "instant on" machines, but machines that are turned on and left on for hours.

Pair it with a game that takes half an hour to boot, even when it works, like anything Konami Sys573. Then it doesn't matter how long it takes for the monitor to warm up because the game isn't ready yet anyway :D
