If a fire was about to burn your house, what would you save?

Well, first I would kick my wife out of the house, then I'd toss the cats in the fire, then I would grab my Blaster on the way out.

I have too much stuff so trying to decide what to save besides family would be difficult. We had a house fire several years ago. Luckily no one was in the house at the time. The actual fire destroyed the kitchen but the most damage was done by the heat and smoke. Plastics melted on the other side of the house and upstairs. The smoke was the worst. If anyone ever has a fire and it is too large to attempt to put out get yourself and family out and don't attempt to save anything else as the smoke can easily do permanent lung damage. Those wild fires can blow in quick so just don't risk life and limb (or lungs) for any material things.

My wife, my cat, and myself. Anything else can be replaced. Glad you escaped without harm!

Yup, me too. When my town had a mandatory evacuation for Hurricane Irene, I found out the answer to that question. The best I could do in limited time was to prep the house as best as possible before leaving, but I left all my good stuff home -- arcade games, expensive guitars, expensive surfboards, etc. It's a bummer to leave that stuff behind, but there's nothing you can really do about it. Grabbed two cats, stuffed them into boxes, and hit the road with fiancee and two howling cat boxes. Everything turned out fine.

In the heat of the moment I would make sure Wife and 3 cats were safe. If thinking clearly, I would next grab my 1964 Fender Jazzmater that belonged to my dad. A big variable in this scenario is time. If I had more time, I would grab more musical instruments. Arcade games are not "grab and go" items. I realize the main point of this exercise it to establish a personal value comparison of games, non-game possessions, and family members. If I find one more turd outside of the litterbox, I may have to reevaluate my previous statements!
