Recently the pigtail connecting the coin mech to the cabinet wiring in our Wheel Deal came spectacularly undone. I had been limping it along with soldered wires for a while, but today I decided enough is enough and just ordered a whole new pigtail (~$9 direct from Benchmark). This brings up a question though. There's all these various connectors in arcade machines, and I can't imagine too many of the companies that make these connectors have gone out of business, what with the rise of redemption and their applications in retail and manufacturing systems. So, suppose I have a connector from one of my machines in my hand, and I don't know what it is. How would I go about finding the company and the spec, to order new pins and such for it?

I grab my Mouser catalog and look it up. They have pretty good pictures and once I find a pic that is close I then look up the drawing in order to make sure the part is correct.

In my experience most of the connectors were made by Mouser, but Amphenol (amp) and Hirose made some of them as well.
