Identifying and Troubleshooting Unusual Skee Ball Machines
Hello everyone, first time poster and very happy to have found this forum. I am hoping to pick the brains of people much better informed than I on vintage arcade games. I have been looking for a 10-13 ft skee ball machine for my office (I do classic cars) for a while, and in my looking I stumbled on these two machines. The gentleman owned a carnival for years, he bought them in the 70s he thinks, has had them ever since. I can't find anything like them, hoping maybe someone can point me in the right direction. They have a ball rack in the front, six smaller than normal balls, and they are only about 6.5 ft long.
My trouble is two different things one small issue with each unit. The first unit will not dispense the balls when a quarter is dropped. I believe this is a wiring issue, but it could be a board issue. I say that because the actuator arms (solenoids? I'm not sure what is the proper terminology) work in one unit, but not the second.
My second issue I believe is dip switch(I believe this is what the switches on the board are called?) related or board related. It does everything perfect, drops the balls, scores, sounds, etc but when the final (6th) ball is thrown, instead of counting the score and allowing for another game to play it displays the Help message across the score board and ball counter. It requires to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset the machine. I read this could potentially be something to do with the ticket dispenser being empty. I was trying to find out how to set the dip switches to potentially correct the issue. My only reason for thinking it may be the board is that I do not have the issue with the second unit, and I believe the switches are set the same on both.
Thank you to any and all who can give me information on the units or help troubleshoot. Either way I love them, and can't for for the kids to be old enough use.
