Ideal Video Game to Pinball Ratio

Like I said. If you're buying good condition shopped out pins then maintenance should be pretty straight forward. If you had purchased restored games with rebuilt monitors the same would be true of the vids. Over the life of the machine pins will require far more work. That's undeniable.

Restoring a rough pin is about 10x more work than fixing a rough arcade game though.. Much more in the way of cabinet restoration, often more connectors, and many more sub-assemblies. I still haven't finished this project, but a lot of work went in the before to after on this cheap rough project- total strip and repaint, new ground braid, etc..:

I have 1 pin, and 3 vids. I hardly ever turn the pin on though (I have a 2 year old who goes absolutely apeshit over it, and wont do ANYTHING but want to play it if its on, haha). Seriously, the kid wont eat, sleep, ANYTHING. It stays off for the most part -- until he is in bed.

Could not agree more. I've restored dozens of both.

Nice Dracula. I have one too :)

Thanks. The cabinet repaint is done. I'm to the point where I need to clearcoat the touched up playfield, reassemble and finish the boards. Rebuilt the rectifier board and solenoid driver, but I only get 2 flashes on the MPU. Gotta work on it soon..

3rd flash is the 5101 RAM. If you have board problems ask in the pinball forum. I have a couple of boards that aid in troubleshooting but you probably don't need those if you're only fixing one MPU.

There are probably 3 or 4 pins at most I'd like to have regardless of having 5 vids or 50. Pinbot, High Speed and Haunted house were the only ones I went out of my way to play back when they were side-by-side with vids.

Thanks. I actually bought a new RAM chip and another potential problem part from GPE, but just stopped messing with it a few months ago. The playfield had a few small isolated areas of flaking. For what it was, I think the touchups went well, just need to clearcoat it.

I paid $75 for the project, but after buying a nicer backglass, tons of parts, I'll have hundreds in it. It'll be a pretty game if I ever finish it.

One day in the future, I'll most likely get my hands on an F-14 Tomcat.

I look forward to this day. :)

The one and only pin I've restored newer than 70s/early 80s was an F-14.

It was rough when I bought it, cabinet damage, filthy, things not working. I ended up pulling the full mylar, doing insert decals and auto clearcoat. Touched up cabinet, replaced 2 displays, full playfield restore. I spent a year working on it. I sold it, but miss it. I don't think you'd regret buying it.. it's a heck of a light show with all the flashers. The sounds are great too. I really enjoyed playing it while I had it.

Yeah, mine would be HUO, so it really wouldn't need restoring.
