Iconic Games throughout the years...

Here are some more suggestions;

1986 - Playchoice-10
1987 - Contra
1988
1989
1990
1991 - Captain America and the Avengers
1992 - X-Men
1993 - Mortal Kombat II,NBA Jam
1994 - Darkstalkers
1995 - Time Crisis,Street Fighter Alpha
1996 - Metal Slug
1997 - House of the Dead,NFL Blitz,Marvel Super Heroes vs SF
1998 - Marvel vs Capcom,Dance Dance Revolution
1999
2000 - Marvel vs Capcom 2

1999 would have to include Gauntlet Legends or War. At the local Nickelcade people would spend hours on those games. I probably spent five-six hours a day on Gauntlet and probably the same on War. Although I've heard that War didn't fare too well elsewhere.

And 1994 for me was definitely T-Mek. At any arcade which had it I would sit there and challenge everyone that would come by, the machine never got any rest when I saw it.

Hooray! Another T-Mek lover on the boards!!

I'd throw in Lethal Enforcers for 1992. That's the first gun game I can remember people waiting to play.

dance dance revolution is a def iconic game
Street fighter 2
Marvel vs capcom 2
Mortal Kombat
House of the dead (I think)
Ferrari 355 challenge? LOL
Initial D
Maximum Tune

Here is my list as it stands right now. I added most of the suggestions, only leaving off the ones that I have never heard anyone ask about outside of this thread.

1981 – Centipede / Donkey Kong / Galaga / Defender
1982 – Burgertime / Ms Pacman / Tron / Robotron / Pole Position / Joust

1984 – 1942 / Punch-Out!!
1985 - Ghosts N Goblins / Gauntlet

1987 - Double Dragon / Contra
1988 - Ghouls 'n Ghosts
1989 - Golden Axe / Final Fight / TMNT / NeoGeo MVS
1990 – Smash TV
1991 - Street Fighter II: The World Warrior / Captain America and the Avengers
1992 – Mortal Kombat / X-Men / Lethal Enforcers
1993 – Bust A Move / MK II / NBA Jam
1994 – Cruisin' USA / T-Mek
1995 – Area 51
1996 – Rush San Francisco / Metal Slug

1998 – Marvel vs Capcom / Dance Dance Revolution
1999 – Hydro Thunder / Gauntlet Legends
2000 – Marvel vs Capcom 2

Smash TV is a good choice for 1990, but I would say the most iconic machine from that year (although wasn't it technically launched in '89?) was the Neo-Geo MVS. I know it's not a specific game per se, but that's one machine that was always being played no matter where I saw it.
