Just picked up an ICB yesterday. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping some other ICB owners can answer.

-What connects the left hand ball rod (the left side of the main bar that the ball rests on during play) to the slider? Mine is currently held on there with a twist tie and it's obviously not right. I was wondering if maybe it's a plastic piece (the right side is) that broke over the years.

-And, of course, I need new belts. Do you think clear fish tank tubing would work? It's not elastic, but very flexible and about the right size.....and cheap.

- Last question....the left side "slider" that I mentioned in my first question seems to slide all the way under the actuator on the microswitch(lower limit switch) there. I haven't turned the game on yet, so maybe the switch being turned on during play would prevent it from falling this far. Is this normal?

That will never work. Your best bet would be to pass it on to me. :D

IIRC, Riptor has some parts for ICB. He might have the belts.

I might. This is one of those "why did I buy this when I don't have any room" games.

I'm not as concerned about the belts as I am with the other stuff. I know there are a couple solutions for those like windshield washer tubing and things like that. I'm not worried about the slider parts because it might affect how smoothly the game works.

Riptor....you have any of those pieces?

My belts were replaced with weed-eater line. Works just fine.

As far as the piece you think isn't right... a picture would help to be sure of what you're talking about. I had to repair mine so I might be able to help.

I actually just installed the fish tank tubing and it worked perfectly and only took a few minutes to put in.

I'll try to take a pic of the other piece tonight. It's basically the piece that holds the front bar (that the ball sits on when you're playing) to the left side bar that it glides op and down. It almost looks like a clip that holds the glass down on a cocktail table, except with a couple rings for the bar to slide through. Anyway, I'm wondering how the front bar connects to that slider piece.

I just played a game and the left side of the bar sometimes gets too close to the playfield and the ball won't roll correctly because it hits against the glass. It's just not connected correctly and I'm not sure how it should be.

take a pic of yours and I can compare it to mine to see if I can help, it may just be installed backwards or the clip may not be on all the way.

It's not there at all. I don't have anything to take a picture of. Someone who had it before me just had the bar attached with a twisty tie and a screw. The other side has a white plastic piece that connects it.

I only have the parts listed on my site. Check with djdns and see if he has the plastic piece you need. He had a parts playfield a while back.
Yes the rod will drop below the switch sometimes. When in operation the switch will keep it from traveling that far down. Your switch lever may also be out of adjustment.

I believe Marcospecialites carries the belts for it and zeks peak

Just an update:

I'm still looking for that small plastic piece. I could really use the entire bar assembly to make it perfect since the one I have has some dents, but that plastic piece is pretty essential.

If anyone out there has parts, please let me know! That's all that's keeping this from being a 100% working Ice Cold Beer.

Yes. I'm specifically looking for the white plastic piece in that picture. I need it for the other side of the bar(the left side, where the bar is slightly smaller and copper), but I assume they are the same on both sides.
I'd buy the entire bar assembly off of someone if they don't feel like disassembling anything.

Ahhh... THAT piece. You can probably make your own out of something laying around the house if need-be. Just make sure it's fairly non-abrasive as you don't want to risk damage to the playfield or glass. Maybe you can hunt down a small cube of lexan or something and grind it down to the right size/shape...?

As for attaching it to the bar (my bar had fallen off as well)... here's what I did. Got a washer that had the same size hole as what's in the bar. Curved the washer so that it would fit inside the bar (had to do a little trimming and a bit of hammering). Then got the right size pop-rivet and just popped it back together. The washer was for support because it had already popped out once before, so there was good chance it would happen again.

Video of the bar broken, and me rambling.

Update:

Well, I gave up on ever finding the actual piece so I took the advice here and made my own. I bought a $5 teflon cutting board from Ross, cut a corner off of it, and filed it down until it was an exact match to the piece I needed. I then riveted the piece to the bar and it's good to go now. It's a shame the previous owner/operator did their crappy fix and scratched up the glass on the left side. There are rumors that it's being re-made, though, so I might buy one if it comes out.

Anyway, the game is working 100% now and it's awesome.

I also bought the sideart from Bill(?) at chompingquarters.com and I plan on putting that on in the near future. I'm holding out in case I can find some woodgrain that matches first. I'd hate to put brand new art on not so great sides.

automotive vacuum tubing works just fine. That is what I've used on the last two I fixed.
