Ice Cold Beer in the kitchen and i don't even drink the stuff!

just happy that i found this at a very reasonable price and that there's now another one in circulation...

got it from a collector who picked it up years ago with lots of other projects at auction. he never had time to do much more than plug it in to find out that it didn't work. i've been wanting one for years ever since playing FullThrottle's Zeke's Peak but the few that have shown up for sale were either snatched up very quickly or well beyond my meager budget. my wife played a Zeke's a week ago and told me i should get one, then i mentioned something to a fellow collector who knew someone and bam!, the darn thing is in my kitchen.

found one motor that has a badly cracked cap on top that keeps it from mounting properly (it works, but with extra noise,) one bent tab that holds the belt on and trips the cut-off switches, and of course bad belts. after a run to the auto parts store i made some new belts and fixed what i could and it's mostly up and running! just need to find a permanent fix or replacement for the motor and i think it'll be a great addition to my collection.

wish list.

Great score!

When I saw this game at Jehuie's I was quite envious.

Three things I wish I had, a wife (especially one who loves the games)
and an ice cold beer (both the game and the beverage)

only able to make one item on this list happen tonight, but it'll do for now.

Congrats! Yep, it's a great game. I finally moved mine into the lineup today actually. Yours looks a little cleaner than mine...I've got some flaking at the top of the front glass.

the glass is really nice except where it's been chipped by the ball down along the bottom. the CPO is also great except for a bit of cracking along the tight bends.

having some switch / homing problems now that i've fixed the bent bracket and supported the broken motor... all on the same side. i wonder if the problems may all stem from the same source, though how it could've gotten that messed up by simply having a bad switch or main PCB i just can't say.

OK, I give up -- what exactly is this game?

I've heard a couple of folks say in the past that it is excellent and the same with Zeke's Peak.

I went to add both to my MAME system to check them out yesterday and they weren't there. Now I see this and discussions of motors and belts?

What exactly are those 2 games? Obviously not the typical arcade game.

Someone school me.

not on mame

Its a game where you roll a steel ball uphill as high as you can without losing it using the metal bar and if you get to the top you get a "free beer"
Supposedly some bars actually would give you a free beer if you could accomplish this feat.
Zeke's peak is simply the kid-friendly, non-alcoholic version, with different artwork. Rarer, too.
The bar that the ball rolls on is behind glass like some sort of vertical pinball machine, and you have to finesse the controls and have a pretty good basic understanding of Newton's second law regarding bodies in motion, inertia, thats what makes it a timeless classic.

A minute to learn,
A lifetime to master!

Cool, thanks!

No wonder it wasn't on the MAME menu. LOL.

just a quick update and note for anyone doing repairs to ICB/ZP in the future.

i pulled off the rail on the right side of the playfield (as seen from the back) and the bars and slider so i could bend the clamp tab on that side back into shape. it took some adjusting until i got it to hit the cut-off switches properly.

when i put it all back together i had problems with the cut-off switches not activating correctly, so i switched wires around and around since i had neglected to note their configuration before disconnecting them, figuring that it would be simple to put 'em back. i finally figured out today that the motor wires are reversed from what the colored tabs on the motor indicate and it's all up and running after way too much unnecessary frustration.

note to self: when there's any chance things will get mixed up, always note the way wiring is connected BEFORE disconnecting. agh.

still want to replace the motors and do a bunch of cleanup but it's playing great at least through hole six! now i just need to spend some time practicing...

Love this game, we used to have it at our local godfathers pizza back in the day. I have been looking for one for quite some time. Great pickup!
