I have been battling with an issue with my ICB for days now.

every time switch #2 is tripped, the display reads oops, as if the ball went into the wrong hole... not when it gets down to the bottom, but when you manually trip Switch #2

Now, I unscrewed all the playfield switches, replaced them with new ones... and it all worked! (when tripped by hand)

I shut down the machine, screwed in the switches... and we are back to the issue again. I traced the wire back, there are no kinks... and I have seen this work, but not with the switches screwed down.

Anyone have any advice? PLEASE?

If the switch is triggering the even, the actual switch is fine. Sounds like a problem on the board. The switch only tells it when the ball is in the hole, sounds like its doing just that.

Last night when I went to bed... I was wondering if it was a board problem. Uhg... so now I need a new board to test and ensure that is what is going on. Thanks Riptor

Well im not sending you the board out of mine :) but I can check yours out if you want to send it to me. I will be out of town until monday or tuesday, leaving in the morning. I will pm me your address and you can send the board(s) if you like.

I'm having the same issue on a Zeke's Peak with hole #5. It's registering the 5th hole as a miss as soon as I trigger the 5th hole's switch. I've tried with the ball as well as manually. I can't get past the 5th hole so not sure if any higher holes have issues.

Could it be that the switch is wired wrong and sending a signal that looks like one of the other target holes (which would be a miss when #5 is illuminated)?

I read the manual but didn't see any obvious next steps since the switch itself is working. I was hoping it just needed adjustment or replacement... I'm really hoping this isn't a board issue!

What should I try next?

Thanks,
Cj

It looks to be a pcb issue to me.
Riptor and CdJump here on the board are experts with repair on ICB and Zekes Peak.

Just for the record, i really don't know jack squat about zeke's peek, or ICB. I do however, work on Baby Pac stuff (which is what i think Shawn was thinking of).

Put the ball in play and trip the switch in question by hand. Does it register correctly?
It sounds like the hole switch might not be making and then the ball falls to the bottom and takes it out of play. Could just need a switch adjustment.

The issue I described above is happening when tested by hand. Tripping hole 5's switch by hand, in the same fashion as 1-4, immediately registers as "oops" wrong hole with accompanying sound.

@Riptor et al,

Since it's out of town, I only have access to this ZP on my trip this weekend and then it'll be months before I can get hands-on again. So PLEASE give me any other guidance to help me make the most of my 2 days with it. It might kill me to leave it hanging unresolved for months! haha.

I'm bringing basic tools with me (DMM, solder iron, fiberglass pen, etc.) and hoping to find a simple fix. Well, either that, or confirm that I need to send the board off to someone.

Thanks :D

Problem apparently solved although not exactly sure how/why.

I first confirmed that the game was incorrectly counting the 5th hole as losing a ball by manually progressing through the game by tripping the switches from behind the playing field using a tweezer to pull the switch arm. After seeing that scenario a few times, I manually progressed through the game but this time I bypassed the mechanical part of the switches closures by shorting the switch tabs/posts with a paperclip. I made my way up to Hole 5, and wouldn't you know it, it scored as a success! I proceeded to check the rest of the holes using the paperclip. All worked.

I repeated the paperclip routine and again all holes worked. I then played a game by manually dropping the ball into the winning holes and #5 again worked! Lastly, I played a few legitimate games to make sure things worked under normal gameplay and they did. :)

I'm not sure if there was some built up static or something else weird going on with #5's switch, but after shorting it with a paperclip, it worked fine. Before that, it instantly registered as a loss BEFORE the ball would make its way down to the bottom switch.

Bottomline: If you have weird switch problems that aren't related to the physical position, etc., throw a paperclip on it and, just maybe, from now on, all your troubles will be out of sight.

I now offer sacrifices to the paperclip god, for she is a kind and merciful god. :)
