Hello, new to vids but am experienced in electronics.

I just got an Icade 60-in-1 in the mail, hooked it up to my jamma cab and am getting nothing (no sound, monitor doesn't even budge). LED5 turns on and stays solid; there are two other LEDs on the PCB that briefly flash when power is turned on, then got out. My jamma cab is fully functional with good, clean power; all other jamma PCBs work just fine. So, I hooked up the Icade to my test bed (+5v and ground only)- low and behold, it appears to be working, the two other LEDs now flash orange, then yellow after what I assume is the boot process, so I am blanking just fine. Using the same power supply (just to be certain it is not a power supply issue), I put it in my cab, and the same thing happens, no blanking signal, dead.

So, apparently, this board will not operate when my jamma harness is connected but will operate without a jamma harness. I am drawing a complete blank. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Chuck

What's the difference between the test bench and the cab? +5 setting? -5 not connected? Different type of harness or power supply?

You're not connecting it backwards in the cab, by chance?

Yeah - I just edit my post :)

My test bed only has +5v and ground connected. Definitely hooking it up correctly in the cab. Cab is a Commando with jamma adapter.

You've probably already checked this but didn't see it mentioned, what's the +5 at the board when it's hooked up to the test bed and when it's hooked up to the cab? Minor voltage difference could be the line between working and not and from the sounds of the behavior in the cab it might not be getting quite as much juice as it needs. *e* Reread the bit about same PS put in the cab and it's still having an issue, measuring at the board when it's on could tell you if you've got a little bit of loss on one of the +5 leads or another lead in the connector.

Thanks for the response - my cab is putting out ~4.96v while my test bench is ~5.01. Thinking about it here at work, I better hook up the +12v power supply on my test bed, since I didn't yet. If the sound circuit is faulty, though, it seems like it would still boot, wouldn't it? I guess I will know more tomorrow.

The game WILL boot if the sound chip fries. Ask me how I know.

I always set my power supplies to 5.10 before hooking them up to these and never have an issue...

yup - that did the trick, thanks for all the help. I put it up to 5.15v and 11.92v and everything works just great now - pretty sweet little gadget :)
