Enter the iCADE iPad Arcade Cabinet! To use the iCade, gently slide the iPad into the cradle. The iCADE uses Bluetooth to connect to the iPad so there's nothing else you need to do. You're ready to "insert coin" and game on!

To bring the iCADE to life, ThinkGeek has partnered with ION. Atari, the first name in classic arcade games, also signed up to bring a huge suite of classic arcade titles including Asteroids® to market with iCADE support built right in. When released, a friendly API will be made available to developers to add iCADE support to almost any game.

I preordered one when they first when up like 6 months ago. I got it like a month ago. it's alot of fun. and Turns heads whenever I bring it out at work or at home parties.

Just bought one for the wife for our 8th anniversary. I'll get her into this hobby one way or the other. Probably will have to fill it with money and flowers for her to not toss it into the trash upon receipt, but I'll do what I have to.

Wait, youre going from Mustang to iCade? Cover your privates when you hand it to her...

I bought the Atari app tonight and all I can say is wow. Even without the arcade cradle, this app is pretty sweet. I can now play Major Havok on my iPad with a virtual whirlygig? Are you kidding me? Awesome, this app just saved me $2985.

Played a little more. Centipede rocks (I hope that the virtual trackball feature still works once it's set into the icade cradle.), Missile Command rocks, 2600 Asteroids is killer. Tempest and Major Havok are sweeter than a spruced up peter, I also really like Millipede on this machine. Next I'd like to try breakout, and will hope that Arkanoid comes out. Then I will be praying for a Midway set. The pacs, Space Invaders, Satan's Hollow, etc.

Cab is great, now if they would just replace that GOD AWFUL pause button at the top with a proper marquee, maybe do some CPO art on the controls- I'd be a happy player.

Minor quibble.
The dock should have been a charging station.
Like all games, icade will drink from the battery.
Interchangeable control panels would be awesome.

Other arcade titles to be found in the app store.
CrossBow
StarFortress (Star Castle)
Space Patrol (moon patrol)
Lander (lunar lander)
Chopper (Choplifter)
Q*bert deluxe
roids79 (Asteroids)
Pac-Man
PaperboySD
The Simpsons

(Laserdisc titles)
Dragon's Lair,
Space Ace,
Cobra

Interesting Arcade like titles
Bit Trip Beat
Smasheroid
Pokey Player

As neat as this is, I have one MAJOR ASS GRIPE. EVERY game shown/demonstrated uses a completely different control style originally versus what is actually provided in the cabinet. It would have been MUCH more useful had they simply set it up with a spinner knob on one side and a track ball on the other instead of the joystick. Watch the video to see how Tempest is played. That doesn't look fun AT ALL...

I was going to comment on that from watching the video on page one.

They picked 3 games to show, and they're prime examples of why emulation and the like will never replace the original arcade feel. BattleZone on a joystick and buttons, Tempest with no spinner, and Missile Command on a stick... they couldn't show DigDug or something reasonable?

Quoted for truth efff missile command on a joystick!

The other thing wrong with this? There is no way to lock the top of the iPad into it. The roof is actually on a hinge, and they are expecting the bottom bracket to hold the iPad in place while you play it. With 2 little kids fighting over it that's not the best option IMO. There should have been a way to lock the iPad in place. Since there isn't, mine hasn't been used much yet. I will figure something out.

I don't have the iCade so I don't know how good they are with a stick, but these Atari games all suffer from touch screen controls.

They have changed/updated them about 3 different times to address complaints.
Some are OK, but some are still really bad. The 2600 games (when you buy a game, you usually get an arcade game and a couple 2600 games) with the virtual joystick are almost unplayable for me. I couldn't wait to play Adventure again and its awful.

They added the original button layout for Asteroids, but its easy to lose your finger positioning on the screen and either do the wrong thing or nothing.
