Icade issue: It worked fine for a month. Then it started doing something strange. The joystick works in the menu to choose a game, but once the game starts, there is no response anymore at all. Voltages are correct and the harness is seated properly, any ideas?

I had a batch of b boards that intermittently gave similar issues, boards were a hair thinner and the jamma connector had poor contact. I resolved this by flowing some solder on all required contact points of the jamma board

So you put solder on the contact points on the board itself where it meets the harness? Is that to make it thicker to give better contact with the harness then?

Thicker. I figured this out by having someone play a game as I wobbled connector. Sure enough that was my issue

The joystick is working differently for different games. On pac man it goes right and left only. On centipede it goes every direction but left, did you also experience this issue before you added solder? Thanks.

Does it always have the same behavior for the games.Does it always only go left and right for pacman, and every direction except left for centipede.I'm just trying to see if it is consistent or more random.

If you have another JAMMA game, plug the PCB into it and see what happens?

And have you put it into Input Test mode to see if all your switches are registering properly?

They problems are USUALLY the same, but of course, not always. Sometimes the games will briefly go all directions, but when they do have problems, they are always the same directions that don't work. Buttons always work though. What is the deal, I've never come across this before???

If you have a service switch, turn it on and turn the game on. If not, turn on dip SW #4 on the PCB and turn it on. Then advance through to the last screen and see if all of your inputs are registering...
