I wish people would buy pickups.

I have a Toyota Sienna, the smaller version before the current one. I can get one cab into it with the seats out, and almost room for another one next to it. The wheel wells stop me from getting 2 in. I've never tried the 'open the side doors and put it in sideways before', but I am guessing my smaller minivan wouldnt be wide enough to accomodate that.

For as often as I get a cab, this works pretty well. Never thought i'd like driving a minivan but this thing does alot more than I thought it could.

I've been hauling my cabinets with a 2004 Nissan Titan and it handles well. Only like 1 cabinet at a time really, but I haven't really been buying them by the truckload anyway.

Only time I needed something bigger was when I hauled my dual Virtual On cabinets, sobs weigh about 550 lbs each are considerably unbalanced when not attached to each other because the width is small. So I just rented a 14' UHAUL truck for the day and pushed those terds up and down the ramp's equipped on those type of trucks. No lift gate like the previous owners lol.

Also will never get what the designers were going for when they thought of the Chevy Avalanche. Good God what a crappy looking truck...thing. What the hell is all that plastic and the faux roll bar thing in the back. Pure of waste of resources...and ugly to boot. Not to derail the thread but it makes as much sense as the fugly "Cube". WHY!?!?!? You mean people actually got paid to design that abortion...and people pay to drive that?!

At first I was offended when I read this, then I saw a picture of your truck. Now it all makes sense. ;)
I willing to bet that any of the members that have seen my avalanche, can vouch that its not a crappy truck. :)

Thanks for acknowledging my rant toward the Avalanche, and for not taking it personally. I don't doubt the quality of the vehicle, I just don't care for the design. Sometimes its form over function, sometimes its the other way.

I used to own a 2002 F-150... back then I thought that design was modest and unassuming. The vehicle was highly rated by consumer reports, lots of people had them, and I got plenty of use out of it. I'm not a fan boy for vehicles by any means. When the new f-150 came out with the new boxy body style, I decided the good run was over for the F-150. About that time, the new Dodge body was the flavor of the month. So far, so good with this one. I'll never understand why some car/truck companies will drastically change the aesthetics of a vehicle, so much that the changes don't make sense. It's almost like they don't test market the concepts.

I'm just looking for a game to put in my F150 but it did haul one pin. Not much of a comparison but love hearing from those that can really pack them in the minivans!

By and large, I find a minivan to be a *far* more useful vehicle all around than either a pickup truck or SUV.

I hate you...

MINI Vans can be linked to the root of all evilness and road rage issues.

I'm truck guy for not only video games...

But being able to put 2 one ton pallets of wood pellets in the back of truck is quick and easy. I also get loads of dirt and gravel a few times a year so that also necessitates truck.

Sometimes you just need truck. :D

I would not trade my small pickup for anything, I can get up to 4 games get in there most of the time and it's great on gas.

the next best was a guy that picked up a 8 foot pool table in a little ford ranger i doubt he made it back to iowa without blowing his tranny or riping his tires out the rear

This one is one of my favorites I stumbled up at the Neo Geo forums several years ago. Who needs a truck?

OMFG!!! If that's an actual real photo, that dude deserves the prize for idiot of the month. Hopefully he lived only a block away. Can you imagine if he had to travel the freeway with it like that? It's those kinds of people as well as junk haulers that stack their trucks above and beyond capacity, not taking into consideration that gravity and inertia can come into play. Can't tell you how much crap is on the freeways because some tool didn't strap his $hit down well enough or overloaded things. Dumbasses.

If he straps that down good he should be fine, although looks like his shocks are shot!

Just check out what I crammed in my Murano (with the tailgate shut!):

Also a Simpsons cabinet, although I never though to take a photo.

I'm in the market for a new vehicle, seeing as my current vehicle is on its last legs and I'm tired of having to rent a car just to pick up a machine. (Especially since they always screw something up.)

Unfortunately, I know jack squat about vehicles in general, but I especially know nothing about trucks or vans. I'm still trying to decide - truck or van? From a dealer or from an owner? What's reliable? What's too old? How much space do I need in the back/bed if I were planning to haul 4+ uprights or a large sit-down?

Even though I'm in a family of gear heads and grease monkeys, the only cars they know and care about are old school sports cars and motorcycles. If I told them I was planning to get a truck or van, they'd likely look at me like I was a stranger with lobsters crawling out of my ears.

There's a bunch of questions that no one here can answer 100% as its opinion. I'll put in my .02 in just because I'm a car guy with two lifts in my garage and carry (not practicing) a PA inspection license.

If you don't mind getting a van, you'll have more room without having to put a cap on say a pick up. Van isn't as daily driver friendly but a full size pickup isn't necessarily either. Vans are usually driven hard and put away wet and ran until they die at least in this region

If it were me, I'd say get a full size pickup with less than 10 years and 100k on the odometer. If its a daily driver you need, than I'd say go with 5 years or 50k or less of that. Buying from dealer is usually more money. Private sales can also be tricky if the seller is trying to unload a vehicle with problems but good deals can be found for nice vehicles. Vans aren't as common for sale (at least around here) because they're used by the trades and ran into the ground. A pickup is easier to find wih 4wd if that's a concern for you. If mileage is low enough you may be able to get one with factory warranty or with extended..

I think you should go onto auto trader and look at what pricing is for both. Minivans like some on here use work great but may be tricky getting 4 machines in. A full size van may be somewhat limited by the door and ceiling hight too.

Hope some of this helps. Its really a big decision to make with so many variables involved.
