My first pin...playfield has certain seen better days, and someone did a horrible job trying to fix it up in the center, but overall this thing looks like it'll come back to life with a little love. Since its in my rented garage a simple and not-mint pin will do the trick. I do need a glass and Backglass for it though.

Timing was/is horrible as I was trying to get this for a few days now, and now that I'm under the gun to get ready for a trip on Thursday, they finally get back to me.

I didn't pay a ton for it, and it was literally 4 blocks from my house. Thoughts? Opinions? "Why the f-- are you wasting your time with thats??"

Btw its a Bally Silverball Mania.

Looks worthy to me. Most Silverball Manias are bare wood. Nice to see one with paint for a change, even if it is touched up.

There's a guy doing a pinball machine in the art. Crazy stuff in that art. I have a project game in similar condition and plan to restore it. It's a game that's worthwhile to do a complete re-stencil/repaint, as it has so much white on the cabinet and they get icky/rough.

What shape is your backglass in? I don't even have one for mine, and most I've seen are in terrible shape. I've seen some that are more 'window' than mirror.

That's a heck of a classic Bally.. nice score.

Is your truck an El Camino? Cause that would be awesome for picking up games!

Actually it was my dads humongous Ford F250 Super Duty (V10). I actually have a box truck but its full o crap at the moment...gotta clean it out and sell it. The box truck is awesome for hauling games :)

Thats good (with the head). If you feel the price was right, it looks nice (tough to tell from the pic - but not bad).

The touch up in the middle is pretty lousy, but honestly if you're not staring at it you probably wouldn't notice it. The rest of the playfield isn't all that bad. I'm rushing around trying to get some things done so I brushed it out with a clean dry paintbrush and a vacuum, wiped it off a little and collected any loose parts I could find, which thankfully wasn't much.

Sorry about posting in the "main" forum was excited and running around trying to get a ton of stuff done becuase my buddy moved our trip departure time forward a day on me and I have to get a 24 year old car ready for an 8 hour ride. I've been emailing on this thing for a week and they picked the worst time to get back to me, but alas its safely in storage for now :)

There's a Testors line of Lacquer small spray paint cans. In that line, there's a yellow that's a very close match for the yellow on the SBM playfield and an orange that's about dead on as well. Also an ivory that's a good match for the now discolored/faded white.

I started, but didn't finish working on mine. I did a few areas like this-

Take an orange shape in that high wear area. Instead of blending in, or just touching up part of that 'shape'.. Sand/prep/whatever it, mask it, and spray that entire shape. The color from one orange shape to another could be a hair off, but you won't see any blending or seams in the colors.

CPR did a run of the plastics and they look amazing. There's an open waiting list to put your name in to buy a rescreened playfield-

It has been suggested that eventually we'll get a proper reproduction backglass.

I love Silverball Mania, used to play a lot of it. Good luck finding a backglass, I think it's a great looking game.

Nice - thanks for the tips! I actually have a friend who's VERY good with small art stuff so maybe he can help me out, but in the mean time I'll prob just leave it be and get it cleaned up and working first. I guess I'll order a rubber kit and a couple replacement pieces for the bumpers that are broken. I'll have some better pics later, just swamped at the moment.

The body isn't too bad - typical chips and bumps for a pin its age but honestly a little better than I expected. Coin door is in pretty good condition but they drilled a hole through the f'in "one quarter one game" piece for a coin button. Gotta get that fixed!

Heading out now at 10:45pm to wash my car, then gotta get pics for some things for KLOV peoples! WHEW!

Silverball is one of my top 10 favorites for pinball. Nice pickup. If you show it some TLC, you will be rewarded with many hours of fun.

That's a decent score bro, you play it down to much.

Hah! That was great seeing that thing in my rearview mirror coming in from Crabtown...man that thing is huge! I loved the gas joke when I was filling up..."Im driving around in that thing and your the one that has to stop for gas!"

You know after all that - I only went through $55 worth of gas! For practically having its own zipcode it gets somewhat decent mileage on highway, but stop and go I think is in the single digits.

I never did get that cab from sohcx...got lost in your neighborhood (again) - and once we found our way we decided it was just too late and too far.

Thanks - I think after I did some research yesterday and found how bad they can get, mine isn't nearly as bad as I thought. Its my first pin so I wasn't sure what to look for or expect, but I'm excited about it, I just wish I wasn't leaving for a trip otherwise I'd be tinkering with it already. :)

If you didn't pay a lot for it, and it's a project you plan on tinkering around with anyway, it was worth it. Now go save that pin! :D
