I want to put a beacon lamp on my Olympic Hockey...

Every time I play this game I keep thinking it needs a red beacon light on top of the backbox that would light up when you score a goal. What's the best way to do this? Can I wire direct to the buzzer coil?

Also wondering if I can wire in different flipper coils. I'm wanting the flippers to punch the ball more.

Coils are usually chosen based on the layout of the playfield. If the coil is too strong, it may break the targets. Too weak and the ball can't make it to the targets. Looking at the layout of your game, you might be concerned with the pop bumpers and the left/right plastics by the "Start center ice".
If your flippers are weak, it might be low voltage or bad connections. I believe these older games use AC voltage? Check the voltage. If the voltage is bad, check it at the transformer tap. If it's good, then check the connections and contacts. Also, check that the flipper mech is clean, tight and free. If your an experimental type, there is a way to unwind some of the coil windings to increase the power slightly.

It shouldn't be too hard to install your beacon lamp. First, buy a beacon lamp and a relay rated for the voltage required by the lamp, for example 110v, and the voltage to whichever circuit you're tying into. If your beacon lamp is 110v, tie the hot and neutral legs into the circuit after your on/off switch and before your transformer. The relay will use the circuit voltage to switch the lamp on and off.
