I wanna teach this guy a lesson...........

Don't stoop to his level it is not worth it.

I had this same thing happen to me a few weeks ago a I thought coming on here and ranting but decided to just let it die.

Somebody listed a nonworking Playchoice for free on CL and I sent an email so fast that I did not realize it was free so I asked how much. He finally replied with $35.00. Now I am really pumped to get a PC10 for $35.00 so we set up a time when he is going to be there for me to pick it up. I skipped out of my school, rented a trailer, and drove an hour to get about 10 minutes from the guys house and get a text stating that he got called into work. Before I got the text I had been on the phone with a fellow KLOVer and I told him I felt like I was going to get screwed.

So I decide to go to the address anyway and see what was there. Sure enough it was a his house(found mail on porch with guys name on it). I decide to wait thinking he may come back home..yea right. While I am waiting another guy shows up wanting to buy something else that this guys was selling. So now there are two idiots stalking this guys house waiting for his dumb ass.

I kept texting him and I think I pissed him off and he told me that the arcade game was not a priority for him and his work was more important. So he says he will call me back that day or the next but I never hear from him. I guess I am no longer a virgin to a good CL
fu$%#ng.

I thought real hard for the next few days about how I could get back at this guy but I kept reminding myself that not everyone is as passionate about this hobby as I am and it really was not worth it.

Bottom line like the others have said just let it go for your own sanity and health. I know your pissed now but time will make it better.

Really? You're mad the guy got called into work, and his priorities are obviously a little better than yours?
You skip out of school to go get a game, and he winds up getting called into work?

Shit happens, RL happens and I would certainly go into work in that situation too. Not much you can do if it happens right before you're supposed to show up, at least he even bothered to text you.

Some of you guys on here really need to grow up and get your priorities straight and realize how real life works.

If you are going to do the fake ebay name, create 2 of them so you can bid it up to like 500 or something. Email saying you want to pay with cash and ask where can you pick it up at. I bet he would give you a real address thinking he was getting 500 bucks. LOL

Honestly, I daydream about doing that very thing to persistent low-ballers....

I never have, but I think about it all the time. There's one dude that offers me $600 for a multi-williams that I have $1000 in. Sometimes I just want to say OK and give him a fake address, but I don't, I don't need the risk of him being a crazy person who wants to teach me a lesson ;)

You are right about the work thing, if I got called in, I'd go too, but I would do my best to either have a friend or family member stop by my house to complete the transaction that I had committed to, or I would call, NOT text the person and apologize and explain the situation. These things do indeed happen, but theres no reason to be dickishly cold about it, which in my opinion is exactly what the seller did.

These folks are everywhere...hell, I posted the DK cab, monitor and side art on the for sale forums here and get all types of goofy folks wanting me to deviate from what I have to offer or hold the stuff for them, or whatever. I offer to work with them and never hear back. I never put stuff on CL anymore, The idiots come out of the wood work when I do. I'm done with everything but Ebay and I hate them too!

Revenge is not good, that mentality is not that of a "good person"

Getting even is dangerous, you ever wonder how something elevates so much people end up in prison?

I am here now and I can say the arcade game was not worth it......................................................................................................................................................kidding.

If this is the worst you've ever been screwed over, then you need to get out more.

Chalk it up to the school of hard knocks. Sucks to miss a deal, but you should have verified the address instead of assuming anything from an Ebay auction.

I understand that ,but my thing is why else would anyone put up a full blown street address and zip code on their auction for no other reason but to inform the seller of where the item is? It just does'nt make sense. If you look to the right of most auctions it clearly states the words...ITEM LOCATION. Look at his auction below and you will see that and why I would go to that address.Am I wrong in saying that it would have made more sense for him to put the address of where the game actually was and not an address that does'nt even exist? Who purposely does that? Guess I'll ask twice for the address next time.

Sure, it does. As I said in my comment earlier, some people have a warehouse in another location where the game is physically located, but their business is another address. He is FAR from the only person who has an eBay auction set up like that, or doing business that way. The address in the eBay auction is the mailing address for the business.

It makes plenty of sense and is pretty easy, actually.

Well then I guess my Iphone and GPS are both broken because all I found was a tree line and railroad track.

Looks like it. :D

Google maps shows the address with a few buildings in the area and no railroad tracks in sight.

People tent to trust GPS devices fay too much. Google maps too. I recently had a hilarious experience using my friend's iPhone when looking for a Radio Shack in Houston. Its directions to the "closest location" wanted us to drive down the wrong way of a freeway feeder road, and ended up telling us the store was in the baseball field of a high school. The next closest location didn't exist either.

what gps do you have? i used a garmin one time and it got me lost and then i got myself a tomtom and have not once got lost

I don't know why I keep saying railroad tracks lol I meant railroad ties. There is a big pile of them next to the road. Did you see the sharp corner turning to the right where you see 45/5? That is where my GPS said the adress was. Click on the first link posted in post #34.

Reminds me of my freinds' GPS on their phone. We were trying to get to a Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner on Saturday and the directions put us in the middle of some subdivision!
