So I have been watching a blind playing Frogger on Ebay for about a month and a half. The seller is about 20 minutes from me so I thought I would try to get it. It had a reserve and starting bid was $1. Being that the game played blind I only wanted to pay between $100-150 for it so I watched the first auction to see where it would end up,it ended at $121. Seller relists it 2 days later and I put it on my watch list again, this time I ask him what he would take to buy it outright. He replied with $250 and I said to myself,no way!! I then counter offered $150,of course he said no. Fast forward to him listing it 3 more times and in each listing it never goes over $125.This week I message him the day after it ended and told him my offer for $150 still stands if he wanted to reconsider,he says yes.I get his phone number and we set up a pick up for 12 noon yesterday,he said that would work. Now,I had a feeling that something would go wrong with this for someone reason but I continued my trek to the location anyway. My GPS is going good and I am less than a mile from the address so I call the guy to let him know I was close just like he asked me to do. Of course the phone goes to voicemail,I leave a message.I wait 5 minutes,no call back.I call back 3 more times no answer. I get to the so called destination and there's nothing there but trees and a railroad track. I pull over and replot the adress into the GPS and it gives me the same thing so the address is correct or so I thought. I ride around trying to find a house with the correct numbers on it and don't see it,by now I am Fu***** FURIOUS!!! so badly to the point where I began to sweat. I pull over and wait a few minutes for him to call back and heard nothing. I get back on the highway to head home and about 2 miles from my house this asshole finally decides to call back. "My phone went dead last night and I didn't realize it" he says. Whatever......I say to him,I told you what time I would be there and you wasted my time and gas,if you want to sell the game I am not coming back to get it you can bring it to me.He says, sorry dude I can bring it to you tommorow(Today being sunday) I'll be there around noon.Send me your address so I have it. Now,the auction had a full address on it in the location area that it is on all sales so like anyone else I assumed that that was where I was supposed to go,NOPE!! This guy tells me "Oh!! thats not where the game is,it's at my shop" WTF!!!??? So fast forward to today when he is supposed to show up. I get up at 8 am as usual and wait for noon to come.Being that I had already dealt with this guys bullshit yesterday I call him at 10:30 to see if he's still coming ,and you guessed it!! NO ANSWER!!! I leave a voicemail... Time goes by and it is now almost 8pm,I never heard from him. I have been boiling mad for the past 7.5 hrs. I'm I taking this way to seriously?? It's just that I have never been screwed so badly before in my life and I just wanna do something to this guy but don't know what. I wanna maybe setup another Ebay account, make sure I'm the highest bidder in the end and never pay for the shit. I wanna do it numerous times too. I also thought of messaging him to tell him how big of a POS he is for doing what he did ,but he now has my address and I don't want him coming to my house to have my kids see me cuss or beat the shit out of him..

End rant, sorry it was so long

All I would do is keep dropping the price you're willing to pay him for the machine when/if you ever hear from him again.

But, after today's BS, I doubt you'll hear from him ever again. Sounds like he's already yanking your chain as hard as you want to yank his due to (what he considers) your lowball offer.

Sounds like a complete waste of further time and effort if you ask me.

he could be the biggest asshole ever, or he could be so stupid and irresponsible that his behavior would make sense. either way stay away from him, he'll be looking to move in, just because he sold you a game for a good price!

Sounds like he's already yanking your chain as hard as you want to yank his due to (what he considers) your lowball offer.

Bingo. He clearly doesn't like him, and doesn't want to sell him the game.

Happens all the time after a lowball offer, or if someone insults the merchandise while trying to negotiate a lower price. It's still childish, though.

It's still childish, though.

Absolutely, totally childish... which is why it's best to cut the losses and forget about it before the assclown decides to do something even more stupid now that he knows where sohchx lives.

The only thing worse than eBay for having to deal with freaks is Craigslist.

I wouldn't recommend a new eBay ID to mess with him. That just has the potential to get you in trouble.

Just drop it, forget about it. He obviously doesen't want your money, so why would you want to give it to him?

If you don't contact him again, he will probably never contact you again. If he does, set up a legit meeting time near you, show up, and see if he has the game, if so, buy it, if not, don't introduce yourself to him.

Sounds like you're getting trolled IRL. Seeing how upset you're getting, I'd also suggest just dropping it...for your health if anything.

Report him to the BBB. That guy is a business and it was the business dicking you around.

Don't stoop to his level it is not worth it.

I had this same thing happen to me a few weeks ago a I thought coming on here and ranting but decided to just let it die.

Somebody listed a nonworking Playchoice for free on CL and I sent an email so fast that I did not realize it was free so I asked how much. He finally replied with $35.00. Now I am really pumped to get a PC10 for $35.00 so we set up a time when he is going to be there for me to pick it up. I skipped out of my school, rented a trailer, and drove an hour to get about 10 minutes from the guys house and get a text stating that he got called into work. Before I got the text I had been on the phone with a fellow KLOVer and I told him I felt like I was going to get screwed.

So I decide to go to the address anyway and see what was there. Sure enough it was a his house(found mail on porch with guys name on it). I decide to wait thinking he may come back home..yea right. While I am waiting another guy shows up wanting to buy something else that this guys was selling. So now there are two idiots stalking this guys house waiting for his dumb ass.

I kept texting him and I think I pissed him off and he told me that the arcade game was not a priority for him and his work was more important. So he says he will call me back that day or the next but I never hear from him. I guess I am no longer a virgin to a good CL
fu$%#ng.

I thought real hard for the next few days about how I could get back at this guy but I kept reminding myself that not everyone is as passionate about this hobby as I am and it really was not worth it.

Bottom line like the others have said just let it go for your own sanity and health. I know your pissed now but time will make it better.

Burn his effing house down. To hell with letting him off the hook. Just wait about a year or two. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Ok, first off, WTF is up with some of the mob mentality in here? Grow up and get over it people. Geez... Report him to the BBB? Burn his house down? Make a fictitious eBay idea to mess with him? Good grief.

As for this issue, here's my opinion. Like it or hate it, I don't care. It's just my opinion.

For the day of the pick-up, the buyer ASSUMED the address in the eBay auction was the address to pick it up. When on the phone with the seller, the buyer should have verified the address. The buyer can only blame himself for going to the wrong destination. I've bought a few times where the seller has the machine at another location. Seller could have mentioned it to the buyer, but being realistic, it probably didn't dawn on the seller. As an example, I just bought a pachinko and pachislo machine the other weekend. The only address I had was the seller's address from PayPal. In my e-mail correspondence with the seller, I verified that it was the address I was heading to. His reply was no, that the machines were in his warehouse. Good thing I verified two days BEFORE the planned pick-up. So, hopefully the buyer learned from HIS mistake that he should verify the address of where he is heading.

The seller's phone could very well have died and he didn't know it. I know that has happened to me before, too. So, I would totally give benefit of the doubt on that one. It is not far-fetched and is VERY likely, IMO.

So, for the first day where the buyer went to pick up, the buyer ONLY has himself to blame. Consider it a learning lesson to verify the address before leaving and heading out. Common sense would dictate that.

For the second day, where the seller was going to drop it off... The seller is completely in the wrong on that one. He was supposed to show up at a certain time, never showed and never called. There is the possibility that something happened on the way there, i.e. an accident, vehicle broke down, etc., but I would say that it's unlikely.

Bottom line: Buyer screwed up the day of the pick-up and the seller screwed up the day of the drop-off. Is the buyer over-reacting? Absolutely!!! No doubt on that one at all.

There is NO way I would consider the seller a bad seller or anything like that. Maybe a little flakey, but nothing else. If anyone considers the seller a bad seller, then they would also have to consider the buyer as a bad buyer. I don't think that either one is the case. It's merely a story of two people who screwed up. Nothing more, nothing less.

Again, that's just my opinion and input. Take it or leave it.

Bill

Thanks guys,I'm over it now. Now I have to get back to finding a game to put in the empty spot that Frogger was going to fill.

This would piss me off majorly too. If I've got a deal set up with someone at a specific time, you make SURE your phone is working because of things like this.
