I used to be Chuck E. Cheese

The Movie Room

Back in 1984 , Chuck E Cheese had a family room that showed movies. It was a room in the back where parents escaped for some quiet away from the animatronic singing puppets and video games. The kids would wander back to mom and dad when it was time for more tokens.

The room had a projection tv that showed about a10' screen on wall. The projector was hooked to the trusty VHS machine in the back room.

Each day, one of the managers would hike over to the mom and pop video store ( remember, this is pre Blockbuster) and rent 10-12 movies to be shown in the family room.

One Day, I'm in the costume making the rounds of the store so I swing through the family room. They're showing National Lampoons Vacation . I think , " gee , a Family friendly comedy.

Suddenly , I hear one of the moms scream , " Oh My God!" And I turn just in time to see Beverly D' Angelo's four foot maniple on the screen.

Oops, I had forgotten the shower scene in the motel

Parents were furious, lodging complaints, and getting free tokens

And I was safely shrouded in the mask and costume, laughing myself silly

Chuck should be able to wear a bodycam for when the parents say their children would never harrass the person in the suit..

"Is this your Johnny?" [mgr clicks play]

we have Brown Bear drive though car washes in seattle.....they had a nasty old bear suit the new guy had to wear on weekends to draw in cars in in the 80's ...... stunk something horrible inside it!

seen old ladies plow through them gas pedal on the floor smashing brushes and cars along the way.

here is funny......we had to hand dry cars as they came out the end, right next to that huge air blower..fn loud does not describe that beast properly ..one day were doing a huge old Lincoln...I notice allot of movement on the other side...Phil is leaning way back face red screaming but you cant here chit over the noise of the fan ....arms flailing...reaching down yanking on his leg... ..about then I notice the fender climbing in elevation....ding ding the tire has Phil in its grasp....6 tons of Lincoln does the slow bump the roller and move thing over his foot reeeeaally slow....it usually just grabbed the end of your shoe and you could scrunch your toes and let it pass old Phil was really reaching over the hood that morning.....he limped for a week.
