I used to be Chuck E. Cheese

The only Chuck E. Cheese story I have, is not as pleasant. It was late 1993 and I was out of town. My wife asked my son, who was 8 at the time where he wanted to go eat, so he said Chuck E Cheese! They drove to the nearest one, which was in Aurora. Once they pulled into the parking lot, my son unexpectedly changed his mind and asked to go to TGI Fridays instead. Relieved my wife drove over to the Fridays and they had a really nice dinner. On the way home, they passed the CEC and the parking lot of the CEC was full of cop cars with their lights on. When my wife turned the news on when they got home, she heard about the shooting. The initial reports were that all 5 person in the CEC had been shot to death (later it was found that one did survive and identified the killer). Needless to say, I spent several hours on the phone trying to calm her down and came home the next day. As far as I know, none of us has ever been in a CEC since then.

I wasn't allowed to talk in the suit

This was my favorite part of this thread so far. Reminds me of the South Park episode where they visit the Old West town on a school trip and while criminals eventually take the place hostage, the employees still stay in character until closing.

Holy sh!t Ken that's an incredible story! I'm glad your family made that last min change. What made you son change his mind? Do you think he's psychic or something? If so can he get me the results for an upcoming horse race?

Chuck E Cheese Killer Moves Step Closer To Execution

Thanks for sharing, these stories are AWESOME. :)

This thread is chock full of awesome.

I look back at jobs I had 10 years ago. I can't remember anything. Nothing memorable ever happened. Boring. Those moments at CEC for you must have sucked then, but left you with lasting memories.
It's just too bad no horny MILF felt liking bumping uglies with a teenager in a six foot rat costume. That would have been an even better memory for ya.

Oh my God did I laugh... Thank you so much for those stories in the first post. I really needed that today.

And now, in honor of this thread, I had to repost the attached image, which came from this very site about a year ago. Enjoy.

Thanks guys. Glad you like the stories.

Those are all the ones I can think of for now.

I do have other great stories which don't involve Chuck E Cheese. A couple more come to mind. They are from when I worked at a silicon wafer manufacturing facility. I'll write them up if anyone is interested.

They would be titled:

The fifth story in which I was almost decapitated

The sixth story in which I ended up naked and surrounded by several men in HAZMAT suits

Hell yes. These sound equally entertaining.

Darth...the stories are great but your writing style is what does it. You got writing chops my friend, I hope you're in some type of business where you can profit from your word prowess.

My dumbass brother went to Disneyland with his school. While there he decided it would be funny to pop Mickey Mouse in the noggin. He did just that and knocked HER (yes, a woman) on her ass.

Lets just say that my brother was lucky not to arrested. Mom DID have to drive an hour and half to go pick his ass up from Disneyland as they weren't about to allow him in the park again... AND he got a 3 days suspension and other various punishments from the school and my parents.

This is some pretty hilarious stuff. I wish you were in my creative writing class back in college. It would have made it a lot more entertaining. :)

Honestly, if you have this many stories to share and more, you should think about publishing your own humor book. Just get all the ideas/stories together, clean it up, maybe try to find some old photos or something to include, etc. ThatGuy published "Letters to eBay" so maybe he could give you a few tips.

If not professionally published, maybe just get it done through Blurb like Gozer did for "Bits, Sticks & Buttons."

I have no idea what made him change his mind. We have talked about it and he remembers that night, but he doesn't remember why he wanted TGI Fridays that night. If he is psychic, it certainly isn't about lotto numbers. I've had him pick numbers before and he usually goes 0 for 6.

I went to Google for more information on this and had trouble finding it due to the number of *different* shootings at Chuck E Cheese restaurants. Search for "chuck e cheese shooting". Quite unbelievable.

But before anyone thinks Chuck E Cheese is a gang crime magnet, I got similar results when searching for "tgi fridays shooting" and "mcdonald's shooting".

For the record, I haven't murdered anyone yet.

When you decide it's time, watch the ID channel. It is full of all kinds of good ideas that didn't work out. Take notes and compile a list of things that worked and you will do alright....

BTW. My wife loves that channel, should I be worried????

Google 'chuck e cheese denver' and you should get it. I believe somebody posted a couple links to stories about it earlier in the thread.

Great thread. Reminds me of a bunch of stories from my 10 years working retail. Another thread, another time. Keep 'em coming.
