I bought a Galaxian off a guy last year and he also had a Star Wars. I gave him some tips on game play, played a few games on it, and went on my way. About 2 weeks ago he contacts me and asks me if I will fix his star Wars which now plays blind. I ask him take a picture with the back off the cabinet and send it to me. It was an amplifone.

He wanted it fixed asap so I simply swapped my WG6100 in this afternoon and brought the amp home.

Now I have to fix it.

I wouldn't call it ripping anyone off. He traded a working 19" for a non-working 25".

It sounds as though the guy was more concerned with working and no headache vs non-working and headache.

Ripping off people, nice.
Well, it is KLOV.....

Seriously... I ripped someone off?
Not sure how you figure.
... a guy who is not a collector... who just wants to play his games... trades a non-working amp for a working WG... and gets my trip to his place and the labor of putting it in.

He thinks it was a fair deal.

I would have helped him either way. I sent him the links to purchase a new HVT and cap kit. He opted to swap monitors.

Sorry you think someone got the short end of the stick.

What? Where is the 19" for 25" info?
Even with that, at what point is a 6100 worth the same as an Amp?

This is clearly someone taking advantage of someone who asked for help.

absolutely. and for the record... it was a 19" for a 19"

A 6100 working is worth a non-working AMP...or at least it was to the guy who made the trade, to you maybe not, to many others it is.

I don't see how a rip off occurred here.

If he offered to fix the AMP for say $150.00 would he be ripping the guy off then too in your book?

So was the 6100 pulled from your machine (Star Wars?) or a spare? I'd probably do the same thing even if if means having your game down while you fix it. I've never seen an Amp in person but I know they are supposed to have a great picture.

Yes...it was in my Star Wars. So it was a pretty easy swap.
I have a spare 6100 so that's going to get popped into my SW while I figure out this amplifone.

Seems to only be 'clear' to you.
... for the record, I laugh every time you sell something for a ridiculous price, like a multi-taito pcb for $500 or some other crazy shit like that.

Of all the people to find fault with my trade, it's priceless that it is you.

Thanks for making this thread much more interesting than it really ever should have been.

Can't we all just get along? If it was agreed upon by both parties then there's no real claim of a rip. Anyway, nice score Alan, hope that you get it running soon!

yes but was the other party informed that he was not tradeing for the same monitor.
And was he informed that the monitor he gave away gives a better picture than the one he has now.
If the guy was fully informed and then he gave the OK then I am fine with it.

If the OP informed the guy that he was getting an inferior "working" monitor in exchange for his superior "non-working" monitor plus labor, etc, then hey, you did good.

If you failed to inform the guy that the Amplifone is a more desirable monitor that is worth about twice the WG6100 when both are working... then you did, in fact, take advantage of the guy.

Bingo! It's that simple, well said FrizzleFried.

IMO (plenty of opinions in this thread)

the OP has proven himself to be a trustworthy guy on this site and has handled himself with class in all instances.

further proven by him not responding to every single post or reply to this thread. Being that he is a klover that hasn't knowingly screwed anybody or pissed them off, I say it's reasonable to give him the benefit of the doubt in the case and congratulate him and try to help him fix his new dead monitor.

there is little doubt he let the guy know that the monitors are different, but the guy just wanted his freaking game working.

To be clear... I am not saying that the OP didn't inform the guy... as I am sure he did. Simply stating the facts as I see them.
