I told my wife the other day...

Mine's addicted to Star Wars Trilogy and the Metal Slugs. Doesn't mind me spending money on arcades as long as we can afford it (I got a little carried away in December lol)

My lady accepts my "addiction" and fully supports it. She only gives me a hard time if I'm contemplating blowing bill money on arcade stuff. She tends to be my moral compass haha. I've taken her on several game pickups and she always has a good time. She's the reason I had pacman, galaga, and tron lightcycle ornaments on my christmas tree. Guess I lucked out as well!

A healthy relationship gives some space to both and you still get your hobby. I guess I lucked out.

I agree. My wife is pretty cool about the games. he only thing she said once was that "we need to rearrange to make it look better". So I did :) Then she said "I like the way it looks now!"

She has her hobbies, I have mine. Rarely do the two paths cross, but that's fine :)

She watches What Not To Wear, I play Peter packrat, LOL.

My wife helped me load a certain controversial game into my truck.....and supported me in purchasing it for an ungodly amount of money later.

Wait... Wat? It's not Mclemore's anymores?

I said to her, you should see these guys on klov, all they talk about is arcade games, it's like they live for this stuff; and you know what she said to me, "honey, will you please stop talking about video games!"

I guess some people just don't get it.

The same could be said for both regarding any hobby really.

My wife has her wine, shoes, and wildlife. The pot cannot call the kettle black in 99% of marriages, she has her vice too of some kind!

And not getting married is not the answer. A marriage is a 50/50 relationship, not one sided. Take care of your marriage, house, and kids first, then hobbies and you will not have issues in your marriage with hobbies.

No no...I made a deal to purchase it and all was well. Then suddenly the deal was off and Greg owned it and the original owner mysteriously stopped talking to me.

interresting tell me more :D

I totally lucky. My wife was the one who originally suggested we start collecting games (Pins to start with) She loves playing them and can pretty much beat me at all of them. She keeps asking when I am going to get her a silent scope. A couple days ago when we where trying to figure out how to make the best use of space in our gameroom, she was like, Next house, we need a bigger/dedicated room just for the games. Oh yeah, and to top it off she is way too hot for me :)

This hobby i started 4 years ago is one of the reasons im going through my divorce right now. I flipped games/stuff to pay for the hobby with the exception of maybe 2 gift games she bought me however she has told her attorney that i "stole" money out of the bank account to go buy these projects only to sell them off for a fraction of what i paid. They claim i was reckless with finances in our marriage. LOL

I know a few guys on here that know that i was never reckless and i supported my own hobby.

Oh well honestly i will be trading a basement full of games that me, my friends and most of all my children can enjoy vs. a bickering woman who needs to find a hobby. You know what i choose! :D

Ah ha ha. I'd hate to clutter up this fine thread with this crap. And the original thread is locked. I think everyone is sick of it all anyway. My whole point was that my wife supports the hobby....within limits of course.

+1...my wife loves arcades and everything that comes along with them as well. Earlier today she framed my Tron poster I got for Christmas. I wanted to put it in the loft, she suggest we put it in our bedroom so we did! And yes, this is the 1982 Movie poster we are talking about not this new age LEGACY stuff!

I think you are wrong there. Start a new thread.

Me: "Hey sweetie, look what they have here on craigslist, its a great deal"
Wife: NO! We dont have room for that
Me: "But its my dream to alway have Daytona 2 cab, its my favorite racer"
Wife: Rolls eyes

next arcade
Me: "Hey sweetie, check this out"
Wife" NO! You already bought your dream game
Me: " Yeah but i always wanted Point Blank 2, the kids will love it too when they get older"
Wife: Rolls eyes

next arcade
Me: "Hey sweetie, i promise this is the last one, i need it to pair up my other candy cab
Wife: rolls eyes

I cant believe i had 1 arcade cabinet for like 9 years & then all of sudden this year i was able to get 6 cabs...The only thing she ask me to do is lock it up when guest comes over, for some reason she thinks its too childish for me to have these...

Remind me after I deliver the game at the end of February and I'll tell my side of the story then if you really want me to. It's not all that fascinating I don't think.

As last year came to a close, my wife once again expressed that the time i spend on arcade crap has really gotten old and she can't wait till it's over. I nicely asked her to take a look at the back yard, admire the patio and 120 foot retaining wall that was put in last summer then i reminded her that 90% of the $16,000 this cost was paid for by the hobby she hates so much.

BINGO. Flipping games for profit has been the only reason that I can enjoy this hobby. Not one dime of our household income has been used on my arcade exploits. It's completely self-funded. We've already established that the time component is my decompression time, so it's healthy.

Still, we communicate regularly about our 'me time' and we always let each other know when we feel like things are being neglected.

Communicate, communicate, communitate.
