So,

I purchased a Donkey Kong 3 not working..

Taking a look at the wiring I believe that this may need a brand new supply or wiring harness.

I am pretty sure this is not they it should look.

There are tons of splices and wires on the harness that are cut.....

Chris

It looks very close to my DK which was formerly a VS and a Radar Scope before that. If it does need a PS, you can pick up a replacement from Arcadeshop that will use the wiring you already have. If it does need a wiring harness, you may be able to get in on dockert's next production run. As for the splices, if its making good connection, it should be fine, but if any look suspect, cut and resplice yourself. Also, look for the usual suspects. Power switch off, open door switches not pressed in. Blown fuses. Does it show any life at all: marquee lights on, monitor has a glow in its neck, static crackle when its powered down. If its all dead, it could be an easy fix.

I have an extra DK power supply and it is tested and working.

If you get out my way i'd let you have it.

Just a slight hum.. Nothing else...

Is the separate power supply in the back normal? I have only ever seen the one in front (on the wood board)...

The only fuses I can see on the ones on the Monitor Chassis.. I have replace those and done a complete cap kit including the sound boards..

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks,

Chris

No problem, Moreno is about 20 mins from me. :)

Also, I don't see door switches on this game... Are they the normal ones?

Thanks,

Chris

The whole power supply in back is not part of the original set-up and should be removed, it was obviously spliced in.

You have the original power supply there, the only thing that *may* need to be replaced if it is failing is that gold metal box on the power supply. Also, perhaps some fuses. The Xformer (gold box with black sticker on top) should be functional as those rarely if ever fail.

Here are some pics of how it looked originally:

Do you mean coin door switches?

If so, the service (white push in) switch is located between the coin mechs. Push it in to add credits without racking up the counter. If you want to add a credit normally, there should be paperclip-style switches at the bottom of the mechs, just toggle them down to add credits.

I will try and do that.. the problem is that many of the wires between the power supply are connected to together.. Also some of the wires on the connectors are cut. (Like the ones circled in red in the pic black and white wires)..

Where are the fuses in this think besides the one next to the AC inlet and the monitor chassis?

Thanks,

Chris

FYI - those are usually called "Safety Interlock" switches
