Well tonight I went to the pinball parlour in Earlington, PA for the first time in a long time.

And there it was......Cirqus Voltaire.

I have seen this machine before and played a game on it, but never spent any real time on it...until tonight. WOW. The colors, the art, the lights, the sounds; everything just WORKS.

This is an incredible pinball machine. The display behing the playfield threw me at first, but it flows nicely. You can actually enjoy the animations on the DMD while playing the game.

I find this to be an extremely well thought out game. Now if they weren't so damn expensive :(

Chris

P.S. If you've never been there.... http://www.pinball-parlour.com/

I agree....CirqusVoltaire is a great game. I traded a Theatre of Magic for one awhile back.

I haven't been to Pinball Parlour in a LONG time. Ever since he moved from Lansdale, I have only gone there a handful of times. We should get the old pinball league back together for one night....they were some fun times!

Indeed they were! Even though I got my but handed to me most of the time :p

The new location (new - been like 4 or 5 years now I think) is nice. Videos on the bottom level, pins upstairs. Todd keeps stuff working pretty well, but it's a huge undertaking. While medieval Madness was criminally dirty, I am told there is someone that comes in and cleans a game or two per week. It's hard for Paul to keep up with his full time job and all, but it's still fun to go there.

Ive had one for awhile now, and my game is set up on three balls.

I still play it all the time. Can never get passed the levaels in "Join the cirqus" can get through the first 3, but never to the 4th

Great game for sure

Damn he moved up to near Quacker town? My ez pass is already worn out as it is!

LOL, yeah, a while back. You can still get off at the Lansdale exit and take Allentown Road up to his place :)

I enjoy going there. Since I was last there he got a Haunted House, so that was fun to play. I lean more toward the pinballs, but he has some classic videos as well: Galaga, Dig Dug, Super Sprint, Joust, Stargate, Pac Man, and some others. Lots of newer drivers as well, a DDR variant, and some rarities like Turkey Shoot.

It's nice to play machines I would not (or can not) buy, like Medieval Madness, Cirqus Voltaire and many others.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but personally I have tried, tried and tried yet again to get into that game. I won't say it sucks because it doesn't suck by any stretch of the imagination. I've dumped ~$20 into a well maintained CV. So it wasn;t that the game was a worn out dog. What does suck is the price tag. Personally I feel the fun factor doesn't out weigh the price tag that it typically carries. Even if the game were $2500 I don't find it fun enough to justify that price tag. This game has acquired what I would label as a cult following much like The Addams Family. (A game I love)
I guess in all fairness I don't think any pin should be over $2500 but clearly not too many feel the way I do ;) I just spent $2600 for a LOTR and believe me when I say I had a MASSIVE hard time paying that much.

As far as CV goes - I find the trapped ball to be annoying as hell. It just ruins the flow of the game IMHO. Much like I loathe the genie lamp on TOTAN.

I find it funny how CV was such a huge flop that they started blowing these out at $1200 - $1500 NIB just to get rid of them. Now look at the prices! WHOA!

The cool thing is we all enjoy smacking around the silverball.

Not a negative Nancy at all. That's what makes the hobby great. People have different tastes. It's better that way, at least in my opinion. Funny you mention the lamp on TOTAN - I thought the same thing at first, but I really like it now. I can crank up the points with the lightning lamp. At first (from looking at it) I thought it was a horrible design but in my opinion it works pretty well, much like the ones on old Williams EM machines.

I WISH I had known about the MIB prices at closeout time. Oh well, once I perfect my time machine, I will go back and buy all the closeout CV and Medeival Madness machines. Ugh, I better make a bigger time machine :)

No need to make a bigger time machine. Just name it like the tradis ,it is bigger On the inside.

Expensive? Nah. I got my CV NIB for $2100. :D

BTW, the game is even cooler with the home ROM installed.

Didn't Williams dump a TON of money into these, too? I think even at full price they were only making a couple hundred bucks because of all the toys.

I really like a lot of the unique features and wild artwork of CV, but I've never been able to get into the play. And the video modes are annoying as hell. Who wants to play "memory" when they're standing at a pinball machine??
