I scored a Space Invaders cabaret, anyone need parts?

Picked up a Space Invaders cabaret today, got a good deal on it, and I was looking for a winter project. The bottom of the cab had some water damage to it, but other than missing the coin door, everything looked pretty clean. When I turn it on, the monitor turns on, and the marquee lights up, but no image or sounds. On the backside of the last PCB, it looks like it is flaking off on the solder side, and I noticed the small PCB (from the harness, marked "D") to the left of the coin door, appears to be cracked straight across where you would plug it into the harness. So I am not sure if that is why it is not working.

So if any one is in need of any of the following parts, please pm me. I am open to offers and would like to see them put to a good use.

Complete wiring harness
Black plastic trim (under the glass to the monitor that held the colored plastic down)
Joy stick and buttons
PCB holder
PCB (not working, did not power on, damage noted above) and all cables
Monitor and wiring chasis
Metal coin box
........pretty much anything inside of it

SI is not that hard a game to get working...Sad to see you parting it...

oh man I so need the lower coin door also, with a coin box.

Nerdygirl needs your coin mech door (the top one)

I know, I feel bad. Right now, I have all the parts labeled and packed in a box incase I want to give it a shot and restore it later. But for the time being, playing SI off the 60-in-1 multicade looks pretty darn sweet on a 19" lcd.

When I was 15 my dad built a kit car of a 1957 T-Bird hard top convertible using a 1977 Ford station Wagon chassis and fiberglass molds. I drove it in our Homecoming parade when I was 16. It was beautiful...until he brought home a 1954 Ford Convertible in original iron. Google them both. I drove both and man oh man was that 1954 tank an experience I wish I still could have. The kit car was a lemon by comparison but still...a lot prettier than an iPad. That 1954 Ford red sedan convertible was blocky and huge but there is nothing in comparison to that steering, that mass, and that sheer hell and be damned hurtling down the highway feeling. No seat belts. AM radio only. Crank that damn roof back.

It's amazing how fast the vultures swoop in for parts from the carcass instead of encouraging this guy to do the right thing and fix it or try selling it whole to someone that will.

I am actually surprised myself here. Mods have been hyperactive on yanking the "interesting threads" in the chat section, yet here we have a "I'm parting it out" thread going strong. I thought there was some new crazy KLOV law regarding these kind of threads? Maybe posting it in the General forums disguises it? Who knows.

Isn't he keeping the cabinet, and artwork for a multi taito or something. Isn't he just selling the SI innards (boards, PS, and harnesses)?

I don't see anything too wrong with that. The cabinet will stay intact and the parts he has no interest in will go towards fixing others SI's. I mean how many JROK boards are out there in Defender or Robotron cabinets.

this poor cab has been sitting on my local craigslist for months, when I went down to check it out the guy was really cool, but he owns an arcade route and any of the games he can't keep on there (non-working, too much work to fix for a profit, ect) he guts sells the parts, throws a mutigame in there, and sells it off for a profit, and we lose another hard to find classic (I know what you are thinking, read on). Since the cab had some bad water damage on it, I will have to replace the wood all the way around, so I figured down the road (and when time permits) I can make another cab from scratch, learn how to do all the wiring myself, replace all the worn out parts, and have myself a mint SI trimline.

But for the time being, I figured I could help some others out that are in need of the parts, that I don't need (right now) as I know it will be a while before I can do all that I want to do with it. So, sanded down the cab (kept the blk vinyl parts) fixed what I could where the water warped the wood, primered it, painted it gloss black (it will get its "real wood" vinyl finish in the end) and threw a 60-in-1 so I can enjoy it for the time being until I can start on it.

I just didnt want to see this mini on craigslist next week going for $600 with "free games thrown in with the touch of a button"

So, hopefully, I can hit some of you guys up down the road when I need some thing to get this back up and running.

Ill post pics in this thread when I get everything cleaned up, and all the pm regarding parts have been replied to, and at this point, everything is gone (pending with a back up) that I did not need to keep.

The most I can sell mine for is MAYBE $250-300 - and it works! I had someone offer me $750 if I make it a 60-in-1 first (which still has SI on it). And I can sell the working monitor and boardset for even more profit.

Tell you what - you send me the $500 difference, and I'll sell it for the $250...

Yeah.. it sure looks like a "For Sale - MMAO" post to me...

after long consideration, I have decided to hold on to the parts that I have, and when I have time, get her up in running. For the time being, I sanded down the water logged areas at the bottom (so they dont stick out) and gave her a fresh coat of black paint and some new bright orange t-molding for the time being. Once I have time to devote to restoring her, I will start a new thread on the progress, and I know I will have to find a few parts to replace.

day and night (I couldnt decide on red, orange, or yellow t-molding, so I let the kids decide), that black vinyl is going to be a pain to replace....any one know what the little (about 2"x3") brown PCB that is mounted to the left (when you look at the front of the cab) is? the one on mine is cracked, and I think is possible the culprit....

That's the "Counter drive pc board". Yeah, the board (at connector D) exists solely to support the coin meter.

The closest you can do on the vinyl is the black pica from Parts Express. $20 for a 24" x 18' roll. Luckily nothing's over 24" on the cab. It will be a different pattern but may be easier than stripping, sanding, priming and painting.
