A year or so ago, I picked up a Super Pac-Man cabinet that had been poorly converted to a Gunsmoke. The cab had been painted a solid dark blue, the MCR board was removed and replaced with a different power board, monitor was shot. It's been bouncing between storage places for a year now as I slowly acquired parts to make it whole again.

Last week I acquired all of the parts necessary to make it complete, so I started putting it together. I flipped it on... no dice. Checked the power board and I wasn't getting any reading from the -v5 line. Lame.

I had a spare harness, so I hacked in a switcher to give it a go... SUCCESS!!! For about 10 seconds until my switcher let out the magic smoke.

I had no more spare switchers so instead of rebuilding the board, I ordered the switcher replacement kit from arcadeshop.com

Just got it yesterday and threw everything together. Marquee, bezel, control panel, new light fixture, newly rebuilt monitor...

Success!

Things left to do:

It needs a new paint job. Too bad I can't get stencils anywhere *snickers*.
Need to punch up the blue on the monitor
Need to get a degassing wand/drill waved over the monitor to clear up a corner
Need leg levelers/repair some wood underneath the cab
replace the CP with a nicer panel I have

Yay! Super Pac!

I'll get my Super Pac upright one of these years. I've wanted one since about 1982. I've had my cocktail for close to 2 years now. I'm very happy with it but I still want an upright.

Super Pac-Man is my number one want right now... upright, mini, or cocktail, I don't care. My wife loves playing it in MAME too, and keeps asking if I've found one locally.

Currently, pretty much all spare money is going to our first house, but hopefully after we move, then I can start the hunt again.

Kyle

Just a couple years ago nobody wanted a super pac. Now it seems alot of people are bringing them back to life. Its a challenging game, enjoy.

Funny thing was I only saw a super pac on the wild, at a howard johnson's off 95 in virginia. I was probably 10 at the time, and I totally freaked out when I realized super pac grows to super size! For some reason super pac wasn't popular in the capital distinct of NY.

I sold a SuperPacman project for $100, and didnt know what it was. The person told me SuperPacman because of the mouth cut on the side of the wood. I said wow.

I bought 3 rare cabs in one sale, and I didnt know it. It was a QBert, SuperPacman, and Pacman. They were all projects though.
