...in the hopes of getting a new game for cheap.

Now, games follow me home when I don't need any more. It helps - or hurts - that I do this for a living, but I'm often given the option to take a cab home for free if it's something my boss doesn't think is worth selling (meaning he can't convert it).

Yesterday, I ended up taking home a damn Ivan Stewart's Super Off-Road - working. I had little space before, and less now. A few weeks ago it was a Big Buck Hunter with a dead monitor. A week before that it was a PGA Tour Golf Tournament Challenge with a missing monitor.

I feel like a foster home for unwanted games...

I am trying really hard to feel sorry for you Mod. :)

Actually, I do feel a little sorry for you. I had an offroad, and they eat up a ton of space.

thats awesome!!! i love free games!!!! just gets tough when you have to start putting them in your attic and on friends garages, etc...

When I worked for an operator in orange county ten years ago I got my moon patrol for 25$, missile command cockpit 75$, asteriods cabaret 75$, phoenix 25$.. He was taking the pcb's and i was rescuing the cabs.. One day i went in His office to buy a miss pac and he asked me what i was doing with them.. Then he jacked the price to 300 bucks that was the end of my rescuing cabs. Also got a pacman cocktail for 25$ which i sold for 400 and regretted that game sale. for life. I had a good thing going until my coworkers started stealing stuff instead of paying for it. Turned into a free for all.. They were taking neo geos and street fighters and didnt know a thing about the classics. I loved that job but they were going under and i jumped ship.. Thanks for posting brings back those good ol days.

I would be happy to take just one free project machine. Never repaired one before and hard to spend $$$ on a broken board so I can try to learn how to fix it, while I'll probably end up breaking it. LOL.

I am an IT guy by trade, but my knowledge of true electronics is next to nil.

However I know the feeling as I get free PCs dumped on me from time to time.

Yeah, you're out of room in that garage. Why don't we load some up and "store" them over here... We can start with that Joust cocktail machine.

Poor Steve. Wallet is too small for all the 50's and his diamond shoes are too tight. :D

I think it would be useful to trade away to a local collector, maybe for something smaller and more in the 'golden age' era. It is a fun game and a keeper for those into newer JAMMA games. I think it has good replay value and would be a nice starter game for a new collector with lots of room to burn. Maybe you can trade it away and get a mini TRON or something.

Was it a 3-player or 2-player SO?

3-player. I like that it's med-res so I can better test these med-res monitors I'm repeatedly asked to fix, but I probably would have been happy with a working board.

For those locals who have seen my garage, they understand when I say I have no room...

Just sell the games (that you are not in love with) that you got for free/next to nothing for a marginal profit to fellow klovers in the area.

It'll give you more space for the games you really want and a little extra money in your pocket, and the people you sell the games to will be happy that they got a pretty good deal on a game they wanted.

No local KLOVers want to buy games for anything over $150. I'd get more money throwing the SOR on CL for $400 and hoping. Sometimes I give projects away, like I did recently with an Omega Race and a gutted Pole Position II cab - just to make a little room.

Some of these games WILL be sold, as soon as I have time to fix them up. Unfortunately, I currently have about 12 monitor chassis in queue for repair, so I need to knock those out first. Then I'll throw a Taito Space Invaders Mini and Popeye cocktail on CL and hope I can get $250 for each.

I really need to get some things sold, as I need money to replace the engine my wife blew in our SUV...

I have a friend here in phoenix that wants a Big Buck Hunter, too... :(

You don't ever drive out this way, do ya? :D
