I recorded a game of me playing Bubbles!! I had a rather great game check it out!!

I finally got and upright Bubbles machine and it looks amazing!!! I got it a couple weeks ago and now my scores are kicking ass. So the quest for the World's Record is on, I have had a million point game the last 4 days. Well enjoy the video. PEACE

What are your settings? I am running the Williams Multigame and have not gone in to mess with the settings at all. I think I need to. The damn ant/spider/whatever it is that comes at you from the drain on my cabinet is FAST FAST FAST....pretty much right off the bat.

Though fast forwarding ... HOLY CRAP... you're good... I can get to about 250,000 on my current setting.

Will changing the setting wipe the HS table I wonder.

yah, this is a cool video. never a game i really understood the strategy for. the ant wave was interesting.

Frizz, Bubbles suffers the same "too fast" issues of Robotron/Joust due to blitter emulation issues depending on the platform you are using.
mame 146 or whatever version will be much closer than mame prior to 145.
the 19-1 multi-boards are using a version of mame that does a horrible job of the blitter emulation. horrible.

Which mulit-Williams do you have? Some play better then others. The Clay Cowgill plays the best out of the ones I tried, I would say the Jrok is pretty good also, I did not really like playing it on the 19 in 1.

Here are my game settings!!!! I used to be stuck at 250,000 points for a long time then you just break through to a new plateau and get stuck there for a while, the stuff comes at you fast, you just have to be faster, and the game plays even better with it's dedicated joystick!!!

It plays even better with the optical joystick. I finally found one and now just need some time to rewire the harness and get it installed.

Good scores though.

Sure does play better with the optical joysticks, I got an upright and cocktail. Took me a minute to get used to them after playing on the multi-williams, now I am killing it!!

fantastic video, pleasure to watch you play.

no kidding. i want to try some of that stuff after seeing it.

I have a couple optical wico360s in a box, guess it is time to rebuild the JROK control panel for more than just Defender!

regarding the optical sticks, is there a way to make that spring less intense? It's a real bee-itch to use after awhile due to the strong tension.

makes me really want to have my Jrok up and running... looks like i know what my 2nd project of 2013 is.

So what's the best strategy when playing this? I still don't think I fully get what's going on in this game...

Doesn't appear to be a time limit or bonus counter of any sort so is it better to zip through the levels like this or take your time collecting everything possible before jumping in the drain when it turns green?

Bubbles...great, so-much-unappreciated game!

My high is about 1.2 million on factory settings...the game seems to really "ramp up" the difficulty even further once you reach the 1 million mark.

I haven't been giving a go at that world record in awhile...too busy with the family stuff...one of these days I'll have to try again!

Let us know if you get there...maybe that will fire me up to try, too :D .

Nice, My high score is 1.3 mil, 4 of my last 10 games have been over 1mil and 8 of the last 10 have been 960,000 or greater. If I keep playing daily a couple games I will get there. I would love to play some Bubbles some time with someone that can hang. Hit me up if your ever in Michigan!!

I really would love to locate a Bubbles but it has never worked out. I really want the blue duramold. Until then I will have to live vicariously through your awesome gameplay. Good luck with your quest for the record!

here is a historical tidbit for you.
BITD Williams donated a Bubbles, and if I remember right a Sinistar, to the original Twin Galaxies arcade to use in a tournament.
When TG was done with it, it was donated to the High School Electronics program.

Gonna have to study that video and figure out how to play it. Sinistar, too.
