I don't know what to think. It would be insanely pathetic to use this as an excuse not to pay, but the guy won an item from me before Sandy ever hit and still has not made payment for it. Today I e-mailed him and asked him when he was going to pay and I get this e-mail back...

"friend
excuse me for not having responded sooner
Problem is that, my father is dead,
causes a storm has named Sandy, and I think this through
new york, I apologize for not haverte warned, I ask you please
has put it on sale again hopefully forgive me thanks."

The guy who bought it lives in Florida and from the address it appears it is one of those people/companies who buy stuff from sellers who only ship to the US and then forward the item on to an international customer as a service. I know people come up with some doozies, but this is approaching a new low if he is just using this as an excuse not to pay. I filed the non-paying bidder to get some of my fees back and am moving on, but I thought I would share to see what others thought.

If he's a professional dead beat bidder I doubt he would make up a lie like that. Typically they just don't pay and move on.

Well, he is lying. I did a non-paying bidder and he contacted me right away about it asking why I did it. He was trying to get me not to do it with his sob story. Then I looked at his bid history and he is still bidding on and winning items as of yesterday, so his father's death must not have affected him too badly. He also won another one of the same item I sold him for cheaper, so I supposed that answers that. What a winner. How sad.

He wrote that reply like a Nigerian scammer, you're most likely better off not selling to him anyway because he would most likely file a claim anyway. I actually won and paid for an auction but never received the part. She had lots of good feedback and just fell off the face of the earth, she never sold or purchased anything again after that. It was before PayPal protection so I was out $115.

Lovely. What a useless wanker.

Did you tell him you noticed he won another of the same? If he was legit he wouldn't object to you filing a non-paying bidder case.

I really dislike all the stupidity and BS on Ebay. If it wasn't the best place to sell junk, I'd drop it in a minute.
