I painted the basement floor in my arcade...it came out great!!!

Hey guys,
Just thought I'd share some video footage I took of my progress painting my basement floor. I used Rustoleum Professional 2 part epoxy paint and black light reflective paint chips. It came out really nice!

I forget how to embed... :(

Where did you find the blacklight reflective paint chips. I don't recall seeing them in the local Lowes. Also, what color of paint is available in Rustoleum. I think we used Quickrete brand on my granny's portch and it was only available in light grey, dark blue, and maybe tan. I'd really like a black if I ever used it.

My wife actually found em on originalcolorchips.com It's about $22 shipped per bag. I think they came out great and mixed well with my grey color. I believe the Rustoleum epoxies are available in light grey, dark grey, tan, and a rusty red color. I chose dark grey and got the "professional grade" from Amazon.com

looks very nice, i have a small area that i need to re cover (60 years old probably). Got any pics/close up's of the blacklight chips under blacklight?

Looks really nice... I'm looking to do the epoxy floor on my garage floor (for garage work, not arcade). How much of a hassle was it to install?

Fixed it for ya.

Welcome to the club! I see you used a single color of UV chips. I went with a tri-color of UV chips, and was also very happy with the way it came out.

If I did it again, the one thing I'd do differently would be to wait just a bit longer before broadcasting the chips on the epoxy. My epoxy was a bit too tacky when I broadcasted my chips, and the solvent from the paint soaked into the paint chips, dulling them a bit. I would wait a bit longer until the floor is nearly dry, then broadcast the chips. Just enough to keep the chips in place for the poly top coat.

FYI - if anyone else needs UV chips, I have a shit ton of them. My painter ordered nearly 10 times as much as I needed, and I have enough left over to do about 20,000 square feet of floor at a medium broadcast. PM me if you want to buy some.

Nice job!

Looks great man...
We have a 1917 Bungalow as well...Thankfully our basement floors were already painted with a similar product when we moved in :)

Looks great so far Joe! Can't wait to see pics and a vid of everything done and lit up!

How is the floor temp down there? That's the only worry I had when thinking about doing something similar. I thought about tile but ended up with normal carpet. Nice warm feet!

Looks great - I can only imagine the amount of prep work!

Whats the texture, I'm thinking more of what happens if you had a spill, would it be slick as ice?

Looks great and should last a very long time. I really want to install ceramic tile in my shop but might go with epoxy paint since it would be cheaper and quicker. How was the fumes from it? Most industrial epoxy paints im used to smell horrible.

My house was uninhabitable for 24 hours. It was bad.

Stay at a friend's place for the night, for sure.
