I-pac help,Wiring two sets of player 1 & 2 buttons on a one player panel.

Hi guys. I'm thinking about making a namco class of 81 ms pac-man galaga replica running Mame. The thing is that it has two sets of player one and two buttons. One set for ms pac and another set for galaga. I am wandering how i would wire this in the I pac so that they both use the same two buttons? ( the same key is used for the player one left and player 1 right and the same for player 2) Would i just run a wire from each "no" blade for each player 1 (or 2) button to the coin 1 terminal on the i pac like this ?

You should only need one set of player select buttons for all games in MAME.

Note...You can "re-program" buttons not used as what ever you want in the software.

Mame uses the following keys as default for Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga Class of 81....

Key Action
1 Start 1 player for Ms. Pac-Man
2 Start 2 player for Ms. Pac-Man
3 Start 1 Player Galaga
4 Start 2 Player Galaga
5 Coin Slot 1
6 Coin Slot 2

If you wire 2 buttons to 1 and 2 buttons to 2, you will only be able to start Ms. Pac-Man. There is no way to use the same 2 buttons to choose the game you want to play. Your diagram shows the buttons connected to the COIN terminals on the Ipac, not the start buttons. Both coin 1 and coin 2 add credits, and do not determine what game is to be played. You would have to use a second set of start buttons in order to select the game you want, and wire them to something that is unused (such as 1SW8 and 2SW8) and remap it in Mame. I have used a HotRod SE which has a similar controller and added a 4 player joystick by connecting it to the same connection as the 8 player like you are describing, and it worked fine. However what you are trying to do is different. The game software looks at what button is being pressed to see what game is to be played.

I Messed up the diagram, not sure how i did that. I fixed it. Your right re mapping would be an easier way to go. I haven't wired a control panel for a few years and i guess i sort of overthought it. Thanks man.
