I am cleaning a few games today (dusting and wiping) and noticed something.

With over 40 games, I am not GREAT at any of them. My HS score screens are embarrassing.

That is all.

Welcome to the club. Unfortunately, with experience comes a decrease in the twitch reflexes required to climb the ladder of high score glory. But as long as I can beat my friends, I am good enough :D

Do you collect because you enjoy the game, or are you just trying to impress people with your high scores? If you want to be a score whore, stick to MAME or XBOX Live. If you really do enjoy the games and enjoy playing them, then who really cares how bad your score is?

Now that's something I relate to. I'm not even good at some but still enjoy playing them.

Ive spent more time fixing games then playing them (in my arcade atleast) and I dont get much competition for anything I own so I dont have much incentive to play which was all the fun to me in the arcades was having a high score to beat or competing with your friends. Thats the only thing my arcade is really missing, good players. lol I bite back hard too so whenever someone does set a high score I usually get pretty competitive and answer right back with a vicious score so I tend to discourage the folks that do come over but hey, it is my arcade right?:D Wish some of you guys were closer to come give me a run for my money, gets boring in the dungeon.

I'd love to come knock off some of your pinball scores, I've yet to have anyone have a high score on my pins either haha. But I do have the high score on both of my buddy Dave's pins :p (Fish Tales & Black Rose) hahaha...

He's awesome at video games though, and put up some great scores on my Mame cab that I had to work to knock off, and some I couldn't touch...

It kind of odd for me... I don't really play the games I fix very much! I guess the enjoyment for me is in fixing and restoring them. I do play them a bit, but don't really try very hard and after a day or so I am done and may not play them for another month.

An exception is Gravitar. I loved that game, but lost it over a decade ago during some really bad times.

Haha, that is my view as well! My 57,000 Frogger score may not be a world record, but I bet you anything I could easily beat the average person at that game. Same with Swimmer, Assault, and Time Soldiers (my other games).

When you have unlimited quarters, or can set your games to FREE PLAY...do you really care about the high score on YOUR machine?

I don't, I can play it as many times as I want, couldn't care less if there WAS a high score listing.

This boat is getting crowded, becuz I am in the same boat heh

See thats what Im looking for good ole fashion competition in the arcade, Sadly I havent met anyone locally that is either good or has interest enough to come play and those that do are over an hour away. Hell I keep in touch with a few that we all played tournaments on Gt 05 so I went as far as getting a GT complete in a dedicated tourny cab and still the bastards wouldnt come out. lol

Its not that having a high score bothers me it just adds some fun and competition to games and to me that makes a game a game for me. Not too fun for me to keep beating my own high score, my poor 720 has ROK on every spot. lol My arcade sig since the 80's/

I suck at most of my games... I consider it a blessing as I don't have to play it for hours to beat my high score or have a good time playing it.

I guess it would nice to put a high score on a game that no one could beat, but there are some people out there that are insane players.

I have sold games like defender to people who had not played it in years and were talking at the same time they are playing and they destroying the game without any effort..

When people set high scores on my games, I leave them. Its a good bar to shoot for..

I'd like to play your devil fish and give you some competition. Do you have any pics of the machine. I've never seen anything but the marquee.
