Am I missing something? I got my screens to look exactly how I want accept I cannot get the pictures to stretch vertically. As you can see in the pics they are way too small. This is my first time experience with a nintendo cab and this was not as easy to adjust as my other cabs that I can get to do anything I want when it comes to screen adjustments. What am I supposed to adjust to get a bigger picture? I have tried every knob on both screens 3 times already.

it looks like you need a cap kit on them i cant see the pics verry well do you have a bright beam across the top of the images where it hits the black if you do dont leave them running it burns the line into the monitor you need a cap kit thats what some of my monitors did and the cap kit fixed them. if you havent done a cap kit befor be carful the sanyo monitors a diffucult for a first time try. of you need it done pm me and we can talk

I might try to sneak over to check out the game. Wife doesn't want me to do anything arcade related this weekend, but it looks like your close to having this one working.

Did you get the boards for Sly Spy yet?

I'll be here all weekend so just call to make sure I'm around. I bought a new board for this from another member so it works 100% now, the only issue is the skinny picture. Have'nt picked up the Zaxxon boards yet because I have been too busy fooling with this thing and Rastan.

I do caps all day long at work so that's not an issue. I should be looking for a 20EZ kit right? The bright beam you see is the flash from my camera.

The thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is you have two monitors exhibiting the same issue ... what's the chances of that happening? Not very likely one would think.
I would believe you'd start trying to adjust the horizontal width coil. Since this monitor is turned side ways your vertical would technically be your horizontal right? Gees I need to go to bed - but I believe that makes sense lol. You can use a allen wrench when it's OFF as it'll burn the hell out of your hand almost immediately. What I used to do is put a piece of tape on the top and bottom of where the picture currently sits. Shut it off, adjust the coil and turn it on and gauge your progress off the tape. You'll know immediately if you should start turning it the other way. Also be careful as those have a ferrite core that gets brittle and can shatter. I don;t think a repro was ever made so you'd be looking for one out of a donor chassis at that point.
FWIW I have no idea if there's an adjustment on the PCB - check the manual before you dink around with the coil.

No. EZs, when they're mounted in say...a Donkey Kong cab, are technically mounted vertically (due to the frame). In a Punch Out they're mounted horizontally.

If this monitor has never been capped before this is a classic bad cap symptom. If it has...well, we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

What does this horizontal width coil look like? It does not sound familiar to me. Is it called something else by chance?

No it's never been capped, which of these would you guys recommend I pick up?

20EZ 13"/19" - Standard Industry Kit [20-Z2AW]
20EZ 13"/19" - Plus Kit with 9 more chassis caps
20EZ 13"/19" - Deluxe Kit [Plus & Audio Bd Kit]

I always do the Deluxe kit.
I also always replace the B+ filter cap as well.
The cost increase isn't much for all of that over a standard kit, but taking care of all if it at once instead of taking the chassis out again later is worth it.

At the very least if you don't do the audio board, please do the filter cap with your cap kit. You see this more and more at this age. Those filter caps are not holding up, and honestly should probably be apart of a standard cap kit. The Sanyo uses the 470uf200v B+ filter cap.

could be wrong, but I think it was Dokert that might've had the filter caps?

there was a thread in the monitor section with Mouser projects for cap kits for a variety of older monitors and I THINK that cap was part of the kit. KenLayton put them together if I'm not mistaken. this was done last summer though and I suffer from CRS. really should be a sticky thread.

just a couple things for me to add to this. :)

and yeah, considering the failure rate for them I don't understand why they're not standard parts for the EZ cap kit.

Bob has the filter caps.

It just seems that the filter caps seem to be getting to the age that they are failing.

I just got the deluxe cap kit and the B+ filter caps. I have directions for the cap kit but I do not know where the B+ filter caps go since they came with no paperwork. Can any of you guys tell me the location they should be installed??

Does anybody know how hard to turn this? I'm using a plastic allen tweaker now and its not moving the horizotal width coil at all. I'm afraid to force it or use a steel one.
