I need this Galaga '88 flyer or a high resolution scan.

I am working on a project that will use this as side art on a cabinet.

The image in the flyers database is nice, but for the scale I am going to print this at I could really use an original copy of the poster or a 1200dpi or higher scan.

I was able to blow up the image with the Alien Skin Photoshop plugin, but it ends up looking more like an oil painting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Great Idea. That flyer looks great under black light, full size on a cab would be awesome.

Oh I have been there already, I have florescent dyes that I mixed with polyurethane, I was thinking about stenciling the cabinet with the polyurethane but no body liked the wood grain even though the cabinet is made with beautiful wood.

That looks awesome! Why the Galaxian CP? It looks really cool though.

Because [SMACK] :D

Here are some other designs I was considering:

There is a ton more of photos, if you want to check out the album.

Now does anyone have access to this flyer???

:D

I have an original flyer, as well as an "original" cabinet. I think I even have "original" side art. I keep emphasizing "original" as I don't think Galaga '88 was ever sold as a dedicated unit. I think they were all conversions. I could be wrong though.

It takes me a while (sometimes a REALLY long while) to get things done, but I'll try to scan the flyer as soon as possible. I think my scanner can go to 1200dpi.

the first one (flyer the whole cabinet) looks cool but does not look classic at all, more modernized. the last pic with the smaller flyer looks the best imo. Either way, win/win

**also if you get the real cpo, then purple t molding ..

There weren't many sold, but there were dedicated cabinets.

Which flyer do you have?

The first one is OK, but the 3rd one is what I really want, this is because is has more of the artwork. Either way a 1200 dpi scan would be AWESOME!! THANKS!

I thought you knew how much I despise what Atari did when they made that cabinet? I hate the atari artwork. I want my Galaga '88 in a Midway/Namco style cabinet. So no purple t molding, or that hideous Atari CPO. Actually I am fine with just using a Galaxian control panel for now.

LOL I didnt know, just commenting, Either way, I like it.

This is the coolest thing I have seen in a while! WOW!

I have to say, the giant image of the bug on the side of the woodgrain cabinet is AWESOME!!

In all honesty, even if you were to find the flyer to scan it, when you enlarge it to print it, the halftone is going to look like ass.

Where can I find those dyes? Do I just mix it with white paint?

I am glad that someone likes the woodgrain, everyone else wanted me to paint it black with use florescent pink paint.

I can filter out the halftones, just like I did on the DK '94 artwork. I scanned that from a tiny Game Boy box. Do you see any halftones in this?

I printed it out to scale already and it looks great:

I got the dyes here, and mixed them with polyurethane. If you mixed it with white paint I don't think it would work out well. These dyes are oil soluble.

WOW! Nice job on the DK art! I would have never known it was a scan from a tiny image!

Thanks for the info on the dyes. I will check out the album now.

holy crap that side art for 88 looks outstanding for sure... I dont have any good copies but id love that art work for my Galaga 88 (its the dragon spirit cab)....Thats awesome i cant wait to see the finished project. BTW what made you chose that cab for 88 instead of the normal types?

Thanks! Because I hate what atari did, and I don't believe that an atari cabinet would be appropiate.

A Galaxian cabinet is much closer to Namco's japanese cabinet style, and since I have a Japanese board set I thought I would go that way. Also it would look great with my Galaga and Gaplus cabinets. I hope to pick up a decent Galaxian someday too. This was completely striped and converted so it would cost me way more than it would to get buy one in decent condition.

Also the joystick in an atari cabinet can't compare to a Galaxian 2 way stick.

I think this is a fantastic project. The "original" Galaga 88 cab is fugly, but it is one of my favorite games. I end up playing it in my Galaga cab, but in mono, which is kind of a bummer.

I like the side art like this the best... :)
